Default Oh my cable woes....

Tired of paying exorbitant cable costs, Ang and I opted to take up the Bell Canada (major communications company here) here up on their offer for satellite TV. Recently our building had a dish installed on the roof of our condo building. Anyway, for years the Rogers Media empire (which seems to own everything these days) was the only TV option for us. Not anymore. Tired of shelling out $100+ bux a month to watch television, Bell offered us more channels and a free PVR+standard digital terminal for the 2 cable outlets in my unit. For $62 a month, we obliged.

Yesterday, everything was supposed to happen. Rogers Cable disconnected our digital service remotely, but decided to ignore disconnecting the coaxial from the cable closet in the building. On top of that, they decided not to notify me about this lack of action.

In comes the Bell tech, he can't do a damn thing because Rogers owns the coax pulled into the cable services in the cable closet....

I call Rogers...wtf, you guys didnt do what I asked, get back here NOW and do it. I spent THREE hours on the phone with Rogers (who by the way, I am learning have awful customer service). I spoke to 3 different operators, 4 supervisors and the head of technical services for my area. None of them could figure out what had to be done, because apparently the work order CLAIMED the work was done. I advised them (not so politely) that I hooked up my cable while on hold for 45 mins and was watching the hockey game.

Their reply...."no way"

So, now after missing half a day of work yesterday and all day today, I had to wait until today for a Rogers tech to mosey over, and pull 2 cables. Oh, and he didn't "understand" what he had to do before he got here....

Back on the phone to call Bell Canada, the service tech left me his cell, so I called it after contacting Bell about getting him back to finish the job. No call back....all day, nothing, finally this afternoon he calls me back advising he'll be here at 5:30 to finish the install.

Its now....8:49 PM, after 2 calls tonight, I was told he'd be here in 15 mins...that was 45 mins ago.

Why, pray tell am I forced to rely on idiots....

I feel your pain Jim! I have Star Choice. Btw I sell for Rogers....but only their wireless services. We have Cogeco cable in these parts. I hear the same complaints you have about Bell/Rogers/Cogeco and Star Choice. It seems no one ever seems to worry about the customer anymore.....it'* all about the corporate bottom line!

Btw the Leafs and Flyers are still tied at 2 a piece!

The part that really riles me up, is the fact that a TWO second job was not done, and I've wasted a day and half. I just don't understand. According to Teddy'* minions (Ted Rogers for the unknowing, and Brian, I know he pays your salary, so dont be too offended) they may take upwards of THREE to FIVE days to disconnect the coax - ITS A 2 F*&^in' second job. And they don't HAVE to tell you even if you've organized and coordinated for new service from another provider.

Oh and Bell can get sued by Rogers if they pull the cable themselves...can you believe that nonsense

Seems to me like such horrible mismanagement and policy problems. Rogers offered to compensate me with discounts on another(*) fabu services they provide...I said no thanks, I do not have any other services from Rogers. :?

I just wanna watch TV....its not to much to ask.

He just called! He'* on his way over, apparently had major issues with the previous install at someone elses house. *sigh*

We'll see what happens.

Huh, after missing a day and a half of work after a huge $15M tender for a school I just finished closed, I wonder if I have a job still...

how is it that you have a choice over more than one cable company at your place? Around here the cable company'* own the contract for the telephone poles and the underground wires....

Bell owns the phone lines, Rogers owns the cable, both providers offer both services, so, they struck a deal, Rogers can use Bell hardware to offer home phone, and Bell can use Rogers hardware to transfer their satellite signal via existing cable.

Its a corporate pissing match.

Oh, and ExpressVu TV works now, its finally installed.

I hate calling customer service for cable companies. It'* like pulling teeth, I don't need a phone setup through cable, I have a cell phone as my phone setup, that'* it. But they keep telling me it'd be nice to have, and gah!

My 6Meg Modem, High Def Package, DVR, and sports tier are almost 120 a month... Guess it'* not too bad when you consider internet is in there..

However, Prices are absolutely ridiculous for this crap. However the Signal/content from Comcast has been blowing away any Charter service I have had in this state for essentially the same money. And now I have NFL network, woo!
