I am a complete sell-out
Finally did what I said I never would do:
bought a Japanese car.
Background: I've been traveling alot and got back to the US to see gas at $3.18/gallon regular (and +0.20 for premium). SHOCK AND HORROR occurs when filling up the GXP...
Fast forward a week or so...
Guy in the office was moving back overseas and had a 1992 Nissan Sentra coupe. He wanted to dump it quick and asked if I wanted a good gas mileage car (somewhere around 32-34mpg he says). $500. So I expect the car to be pretty beat up and near 200k miles. Go look at it. It has 85,000 miles and only a few paint issues. Clean clean clean.
I now own a 92 Sentra. I never thought I'd own a beater, but for $500 and 85k miiles, it was too good to pass up. The only option it has is A/C. No intermittant wipers, no tach, no power anything. But I kinda like it. And its great on gas. Not sure if it gets 32mpg but will test at next fill up.
The only real down side is that I can no longer diss small Japanese cars. Now who to pick on???
Edit: definetly keeping the GXP.

Is it an SE-R? if so, you got an absolute steal! Those things are one of the best low-budget racers around. Throw some slicks on it and go autoxing.
