WIN 2000 PRO killing video?
I have had a consistent problem with my computer. During video playback, any file type, WMP or Quicktime, my computer will halt everything but the mouse, then if I click a few times, the MB speaker beeps, and it is totally locked up. ctrlaltdel won't work at any point of this. It happens at random times, not every time.
My entire system has changed, MB, cpu, hd, psu, vid card, everything, except for the OS, and this problem persists.

Yup, Windows don't like you changing parts without telling it.. And Windows Media Player has become a memory hog. If you can find an alternate you like, it may help.

Win 2000 has been reinstalled a few times for other reasons.
I have it set to automatically download codecs. Is there a better way? Sometimes it will freeze on certain vids, sometimes not, and never at the same point. It seems less likely to freeze if I am not running any other applications.

Not always downloaded, but mostly. It'll freeze on occasional .mov'* from the digicam, also. It'* usually stuff from here, that'* most of the vids I watch.
