He hasn't brought it to the track.. so i have no clue about times.. but it's real quick

4:11's? Fast? LMFAO! Those are TOWING gears bud, so it might be quick off the line, but it'll fall on it's face at 40.

well, i don't know. I belive he said 4.11, unless that was what he started with.. But i still think that's what he said he hand in there at the time. I still thought it was super fast for a pickup

It would be 4.10's.....and yeah the fly....for about 10 MPH per gear....and the gas milage on those is just awesome....a whole what? 8 mpg at 65 mph lol.

nope nope, he said 4.11. I thought 4.10 at first too. Oh well, i'm just telling you what he told me. IMO, id hit it.

along with every gas station in town too....LOL

yeah 4.11 gears would not be exactly built for speed...

i actually had a bad impression of the 5.3...my uncles truck has one and when he first bought it i laughed when i looked up specs and saw a 1/4 mile time in the mid 17s...i went back to that same resource and saw the same time...but its for a 3500 crew cab duallie!...so no wonder...it didnt say that the first time around....

a Silverado 1500 which is what my uncle has with the 5.3 according to this site http://chevrolet.jbcarpages.com/Silv...004/index4.php has a 1/4 mile time of 14.8 seconds......thats pretty dang fast for a truck...i used to think my car would smoke his truck....but i might show some respect now

and just because a car/truck can smoke its tires doesnt necessarily mean its fast...my car is fairly powerful...but will it sit there and burn the tires? no....but it is also FWD with lots and lots of weight on the front end...if it was RWD could it sit there and smoke the tires?(camaro or firebird anyone?)...yes i would say it probably could....lots of things affect tire spinning/smoking besides power....such as gearing, weight distribution, the tires themselves, the road...all kinds of stuff...so yes a big ol burnout is impressive...but it could just be because the thing is designed to put insane amounts of power to the ground in 1st gear...IE for towing purposes...

4.11 would be hella good gearing if you have the power to push it ;)

What are you smoking? Your nova engine could run a 3500 dualie with 4.10's dood....LOL

opensourceguy 07-06-2005 08:19 AM

No, I know just because a car can light up the tires doesn't mean it's fast. But it shows it has power. I'm just telling you guys what he told me he had. But trust me, it's fast.

would now be the appropriate time to talk about the v-16 mule i saw at work the other day? 1000 hp 1005 ft/lb, 0-60 in 2.8 - in a YUKON. 2.8 in a yukon. think about that. the new z06 is 3.7...
