Default Wild Bill

Last night I got a call from one of my best friends, Wild Bill, asking if I wanted to get up before dawn and go Turkey Hunting. I said, sure I have my tag and it'* getting close to Thanksgiving. We agreed to meet at our "Hunting Cabin" on a Ridgetop in the middle of one of his Brothers land, being that we each lived on other sides of that ridge. Bill and I have had similar paths in life including the same untrusting sarcastic view of the world in general. We're also related but that would take alot of each'* families a trip to the Lawsville Cemetary to argue/figure out. Our families have adjacent plots there and bit intermarried since the early 1800'*.

Out of the car and starting up the mountain. First "Landing/Overlook"

Lonely tree along the way coming up on Wild Bill'* Brother'* old quarry.

Halfway through the Quarry, Wild Bill'* brother cut/took to much rock one Season back in the 90'* and the State shut his Permit down. Idiot Bureaucracy telling people how much money they can exist on year to year.

Just above and looking at the Quarry. Many are in this condition around here as the State finds reasons to close them. Once they shut them down, you are not allowed to touch anything or re-mediate the land without very expensive appeals process. Somebody tell me why they feel this is an environmentally sound process?

Leaving the quarry behind it starts getting steep and the years I smoked this and that starts reminding me I should have quit way younger.

Next "Landing" along the way is where we have our favorite tree stand for Deer. Cozy, enclosed, with windows that open on all sides.

Time to climb some more of the "Goat Acreage"

Well after nearly 45 minutes of huffing and puffing, the hunting cabin comes into view.

Well the place hasn't changed much in the Ten years since we drug this up here with a tractor. Alot of good times and beers, etc. shared here in the last decade. And of course, as always, Wild Bill has beat me up the Hill.

Well after this, the camera got tucked into the pack, we walked through 4 hours of Forest seeing a few deer, spooked 4 grouse before we could get a shot (rifles), but the turkey flock we know frequents this area wasn't present today. A bit too overcast and windy today for turkeys to hang out on the ridge. But a great day just to get some exercise, relive some memories, and catch up with a friend. Have one pic left in the "Attachment Limit". Favorite one of the set.

Great scenery. Too bad that pile of rock messes it up in that area

Their everywhere here on the mountain tops in various stages of having been worked, worked out. Frankly they don't bother us, part of our heritage, and considered part of the scenery. Maybe you have to work one for a couple seasons and be rewarded with the money it brings to see that. LOL

To me it just looks like an interruption to the natural beauty

Umm first off I am not a city dweller. Have you ever looked at any pics of the cars I've posted? Hardly looks like city. Most all of my family came from PA, I love the scenery back there. I absolutely hate living in Ohio, its not by my choice that I am here.

John..I dunno why you are walkiing. That looks like a prime time, smoothly paved ATV trail to me.

looks like a geat time. Reminds me of home. Next season the wife want'* to get out for some turkey hunting, we've got plenty of them around and since she like shotguns and tends to not like birds it should be a good time.
