Talking Pontiac may not be dead...yet!

so, I am a dedicated fan of Pontiac'* and I've been completely disheartened by the fact that the brand was being eliminated but I am happy to announce that there is a glimmer of hope for the future! My uncle who lives near Davison, MI told me that he heard a local dealer is in the early negotiations of purchasing the brand, and everything that goes with it! I didn't believe him but for the heck of it I was on wikipedia and happened to see this:

"In early May, 2009, Jim Waldron, a Davison, Michigan Pontiac dealer, announced that he was interested in purchasing the Pontiac brand and logos, and had found financing to purchase them as well as some soon-to-be shuttered GM plants in order to build cars. Initially, GM said that, unlike Saturn, the brand was not for sale. But that statement was made before the official GM bankruptcy. As of mid June, Waldron indicated that GM has softened this stance, and that talks with GM relating to the purchase of the brand are continuing. In a bankruptcy, a well-known brand such as Pontiac clearly has a non-zero value to creditors, and ultimately the bankruptcy court must decide if the brand and logos will be sold to new investors or simply eliminated."

So, i shot Jim Waldron an e-mail and I'm waiting to see if the rumors are true. If they are, we hopefully can look for years of great, sporty cars that live up to the legacy!

That would be awesome. I would hate to see Pontiac die.

Likewise! Best of luck to Mr. Waldron. I was sad when the Bonneville got eliminated; double that for the Pontiac brand itself.
