Black Friday
Anyone want to tell an ignorant canuck what the heck it is? I'm assuming it'* similar to boxing day (day after Christmas, where we all get up at 5 a.m. for the crazy deals) but it takes place after Thanksgiving?
Thanks...
Thanks...

All the Bozos line up at the stores, fight each other for a limited supply of loss leader merchandise, if you get to buy it without injury or criminal assault charges, you win!
at least thats the impression I get from the media. I havent shopped today expect to get some food and gas for the Bonne.

Black Friday is the first official shopping day of the Christmas season. Here the stores typically open at 5 or 6am and people start lining up at around 3am.
Retailers call it black in hope of going from the red into the black on the books (ie make a profit)
Husbands refer to it as black in much the same aspects of the Black Plague if they've experienced it before, and usually refuse to even leave the house on that day once they have.
To quote Mr T, "I Pity the Fool!" who brave the stores on Black Friday.

I worked at Target last year during Black Friday. The entire Christmas season in retail brings out the absolute worst in people. You never see such rude, inconsiderate, stuck-up ******** until Christmastime rolls around. Some people say that the Holidays bring out the best in people. No one who says that has ever worked in retail.

If you have ever seen the old 80'* movie "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" then you can relate to the total lack of Christmas Spirit in the stores, there isnt any friendliness around. This year, I will be buying very little, just for my kids and probably some of that online next week or so.
