Kind of a dumb question about craigslist.

Ive only looked on craigslist before, and never pursued any cars listed there. But I found something the other day that caught my attention.

My question is this, if I take the "reply-to" address listed in the ad, and copy that to my personal e-mail address will it still send the message to the seller? Or do I have to get some sort of account or something?

In case anyone is wondering, this is what caught my attention.

Appears to be an SSEi

no. it doesnt matter. you can send it from anywhere you want. its just a forwarding e-mail to hide the seller's personal e-mail address

Awesome, thats what I figured it was, just wanted to be sure though.

I dont know if anything will come of it or not, I was concerned that they didnt list the mileage on the car, so I e-mailed about that among other things.

My plan would be to give it that TLC they mention and then try and resell it, although Id probably get attached and end up keeping the darned thing.

Most of the stuff seems pretty easy to fix/replace, sounds like it might have a few electrical gremlins, but with the help of BC I should be able to tame those.

Now its just a matter of obtaining money :) thats what the bank is for though.

Also, that actually looks to be an SSE or SLE... there's no boost gauge...

Oh well im not real up on my interior shots, and since it has the HUD i just figured it would be.

So it would be an SSE/SLE with the HUD option eh? Thats somewhat rare isnt it?

Honestly if it only had an L27 that would be better, it would greatly lessen the risk of me getting attached to it.

Financing would be a bit of an issue. I know my bank would add onto my existing car loan, BUT then Ill be in the same boat im in with the Intrigue, in that I owe money on the car, so Im required to have full coverage insurance on it. My plan would be to not even insure it, and just get everything running good, using the backroads around here as a testing ground, and then sell it, saving the cost of having to license, insure, register, etc..it.

SSE had the hud from 92 on, though I've never seen an SLE with a HUD

Might be a decent find for the price, especially since you have the resources at your disposal, compared to a non club member.

Looks like a fun project.

BUT..

Finance $500? Really? $500? I can't imagine a bank taking the time to do that for a customer, considering how little they are going to make off of that in return, unless you are a really good customer! And, don't take this the wrong way, but if you are a really good customer at a bank, you're not going to need to finance $500...

Well for the time being Im just sitting around twiddling my thumbs until I hear from the owner. Im curious as to the mileage of this vehicle, that would seem to be something that you would list upfront.

I experimented with some KBB values earlier today, and for my area, that car with 180,000 miles on it bluebooks at 1300 in fair condition. Which would be a decent profit for a college student like myself, if I didnt have to invest too much in getting it fixed up that is.

Of course theres also the strong possibility that it has about 1.5 million miles on it like many Bonneville's of that era.

Now we wait impatiently.

As for the financing, I can probably come up with 500 bucks without having to borrow any money, but it might make for a tight couple weeks. But hey thats what credit cards are for right?
