Default Tornado experience

Well... I always sit on my porch during severe storms and videotape them. When I heard that a tornado might of touched down just east of Lake Marion I was extatic. Talk about a rush of adreniline, thats exatly where I live!! Now what I am about to tell you might have just been straitline winds, however, it could have been a VERY brief tornado touchdown. When I ran outside it was black, so a video was almost impossible, but I have one!!
Whatever it was it came from above, like a crash which was folowed by a defening roar. it was so load that it muted the sound on the camera to a burble. The maple in the front yard started twisting violently, BIG tree. The paint on my porch peeled off and hit my face so hard I felt like I was being slashed. I could see debree whirling around the streetlight that soon went out. My dad who was inside the house said the house was shaking and it sounded like a freight train.
Damage in the neighborhood:
1. Neighbors boatfound its way across the street in the woods.
2. Lost many trees, 3 at my house. One very old oak.
3 Debree everywhre and sandbox toys on the street.
My dream is to actually be able to see a tornado.

I have lived in Oklahoma all my life, big part of Tornado alley and I have yet to see a really defined one. waited 32 years (b-day today LOL) and all I have seen is little rope tornados, a couple of wall clouds and HEARD the frieght train in the clouds just last summer as it passed over our town. My job requires daily travel and I have yet to see anything good on the road, its all been here at home that everything happens LOL

I was in a few as a kid in Central Texas. Never, ever again if I can help it. That is some scarey crap. Even after they are gone, they're still dangerous. The pressure difference in one we sat through at my cousins' house threw my uncle about 30 feet out of the house when he opened the door....

You could be driving a loaded 18-wheeler, and any tornado could still pick you up and smash you back down like a pile of twigs! It looked cool on the Hollywoodified movie, but I don't plan on voluntarily chasing any 'Twisters' anytime soon

I had a similar experience while visiting in Virginia...only when the sky turned black and the wind got out of control, I was the one hiding under the kitchen table...while my friend Kim was standing in the window because she wanted to see the tornado... A few nearby neigborhoods were partially destroyed. We just saw the storm that spawned the tornadoes.

I've been through a few tornadoes and am so scared of them. 3 1/2 years ago I was in my 91 Toyota pickup (pre-bonneville) and was hit by straight line winds. My truck was violently rocking and there was debris flying all over. I saw a trampoline fly by amongst other items. Fortunately for me I happened to be in front of my work and was able to manuever through the traffic and get in the building. That storm tore a huge path down Hwy 82 from Starkville, MS (Mississippi State University) to Columbus, MS and wreaked havoc. The one thing that bothers me most is that when we were going through this ordeal some moron had the audacity to come into the office and want to get quotes on insurance. We didn't even have any power. Talk about wanting to slap the tar out of someone.
