Well, just when I thought I would like to buy a new Park Av. Ultra in a few years they get rid of them along with the Regal, Century, and possibly Le Sabre. As a matter of fact after 2005 the only car left will be the La Crosse. Other than that its just SUVs. What is it with GM, first Olds and now Buick is going the way of the dust? I remember in the mid 90'* GM had some cool cars with more power than anything from Ford or Chrysler and better quality and reliability. Now they are kicking GMs a$$. First Chrysler with the 300C hemi and now Fords new Mustang. GM doesn't seem to understand what is going on.

This is what people want- draumatic styling with muscle power and efficiency. Yes the horsepower wars of the 60s are back. The styling of the 50s and 60s are coming back only with a more modern touch. Hint- 05' Mustang. I hate to say it but the $35,000 275hp GXP ain't going to cut it with sales when compaired to the $32,000 300C with the 345hp hemi. Expect the 300 to push the Bonny right off the assembly line. What GM needs to do is drop the Denali 325hp 6000 V8 in the GXP with RWD, give it some crome and styling from Bonnys of the 60s only with a modern touch and a $30,000 base price and BAM! the Bonny might just live.

Sorry about the ranting cause i'm just pissed because I wanted to get a bran new Ultra someday. Looks like that ain't gonna happen. Thanks GM.

I agree 100%. Though I think the 300C is UGGGGGGLY!!!!!! One of the ugliest cars I have seen on the road in recent years actually.
But I took a look at the new Grand Prix and let me tell ya.... they raised the price about $5k to $6k for one. :?
Are they frekin NUTS!? Its as expensive as a Bonneville now.
Pontiac is known for fast sporty cars that are at a reasonable price. Heck, they are WAY out of my budget now. ANd for $37k Im not getting a Pontiac..... I'll get a damn Lexus or Audi.

Exactly, I am a huge fan of GM and don't want to buy anything else. But if they can all their full size cars and sports sedans where will I go? The 300C is ugly so I wouldn't buy that. I certantly wouldn't buy a Grand Marquis ( granny ) and slow. In my mind GM is THE maker of the sports sedan. GM needs a strategy and fast. They also need to lower their prices. I think i'm going to have to make the LSS last for many many years.

The 300C is ugly, huh? Someone(including myself) obviously likes them enough to be one of the most popular vehicles on the road now. GM is soo retarded. They are the gutless wonders of the automotive world. Aside from the XLR or even the GTO(BIG TIME FLOP), when have they taken a risk??? I mean other than minor body cladding or a new motor, there is really nothing there that makes customers want to take a second glance. Chrysler takes risks in the 300, Crossfire, Pacifica and Magnum and look at the sales. All four are some of the most popular cars in at least the Pittsburgh area. Now, Ford with the new Mustang and the AWD(opt.) Five Hundred will definitely be taking a few more large steps ahead of GM.

Quick, buy a 04 SSEi while we still have time! Well, I personally find the 300C to be sort of cool. A 345 horse Hemi in a sedan. Not a bad combo. I don't know what i will do when GM gets rid of all of their sports sedans. Where will I go? To Ford? Heck no. I might have to buy a truck. GM has been raising the prices of their cars for the past year or so, some of them they are raising way too fast. They are also trying to bring back the whole "Muscle Era," I'm not quite sure how good that is going to work. With all of these high prices for gas, I don't think that it is smart for the economy to build some big powered cars. Don't get me wrong, I love muscle cars and would give my left leg to get an older Camaro/Firebird. I just feel that right now, the best thing to do would try to build some more fuel efficient vehicles. Well there'* my $0.02.

I won't be buying another GM sedan until they do something like that.
They are killing every hot sedan that is middle class affordable. IMO
They are too conservative and law suit shy. Lawyers have beat them into obsolesence.

They lost my vote when they killed the Firebird.
My eyes are beginning to look at Fords and Chryslers......even some Ricer types.
.....and I've been a loyal GM fan for 30 years

I see you all agree with me. SSuperchargedEi hit it right on the nose. GM is way to conservative and takes no risks. They led the performance industry though the muscle car era and had the fastest production car of the 80s (Buick Regal Grand National GNX). After 2005 the Regal no longer exists. Its sad really how what was once the best auto company in the world has become an underdog. I hope someone from GM reads this thread and maybe wakes up and smells the coffee.

maybe someone should email this thread to GM

personally, It doesnt affect me in the short term, as I have never bought a NEW car and dont intend to in the forseeable future.

However, in 5-7 years when I am in the market, I look at whats been reliable, comfortable, and easy to work on. If this trend shifts from GM to another brand because they price/design themselves outta the market.

Having said that, the GM car that you pay 30-40k for NOW, will not be worth even 1/3 that in 5 years. GM seems to hold very little resale value.
