Default 4x4 transfer case question...

I know this is a Pontiac / GM forum but the Ford forums suck. Very few people know Sh@t about fixing things. So if anyone has any useful information I would appreciate it. So here goes...

Transfer case fluid...

I don't have the owners manual for the truck (never did have it), and I need to change the gear oil in the transfer case but I don't have the oil type and capacity information. The repair manual I have just says to "use ony the oil type recommended in the owners manual", which does me no good. Any one out there have this info or know where I can find it?

BTW: If it matters it is the straight 6, 4x4, 4spd manual

Ok, did some more digging in the book and found this:

Manual transmission fluid..........SAE 80W gear lube
Transfer case lubricant.............Dexron II automatic transmission fluid

Does this sound right???

1981 Custom F-150
Standard cab
Standard bed
Inline-6 300ci
4 speed manual
Manual locking hubs
2H, 4H, N, 4L

I believe that 80-86 f-150'* that were 4x4 used the same transfer cases, for the 150 model line anyways.

Transfer cases almost always use ATF. Let a bit out of the drain plug. It should be obvious.
