Default lan party facilitys

well I've gotten this idea before an I know its been done also, but the demand isnt that great it seams but to open up a place thats meant to be rented out for lan partys an to have the monitors an maybe 1-5 "decent" gaming setups and or dedicated game servers for that purpose an to have it wired up and all that. anyone think it would be a profitable business I know some of you out there have been to lan partys at old restraunts(if not I have ) with no running water or bathrooms an the like its got the space but not all the needs....anyways just curious about this thought

Alot of stuff to consider kazuki: demographics......enough 18-24 year olds to keep the place busy? College towns or university area of large city would be good. High rent in these areas....not so good. Enough phone or cable line to offer on-line play?
Ready to devote 16 hrs. a day to run it?
Two freinds bought a bar here in the late 70'* (2 kids in a candy store), they made a liveable income (for single guys) but they weren't up to devoting all the TIME it took to keep the place clean, stocked and running smooth.
Not trying to discourage here, just have both eyes open.

yeah I know the work involved in keeping it up an the large loan I would have to get to get it up an running let alone to advertise to get some business, just curious as if it would be wroth the venture latter on in my life or such being as I know allot of kids like us either have small get together in basements or find places that can be rented out that can suit our needs it would just be handier to have a place thats all set up for that instead of havening to lug all the cabling an what not, its just an idea though we all want to be our own boss or have some sort of shop this is mine

I know its popular, My son had 10 of his freinds up here in the loft, six were playing at a time, against each other and online thruogh the broadband. But guess who had to pick up the trash the next morning. Doesn't anyone there have a large attached garage or a Duplex that'* nor being rented? You could run it as a Club, but you know only some people would do the grunt stuff while the grasshoppers skated.

I think it is very profitable.

One around here started off as one "space" in a strip mall. Within a year or so they took over the entire strip mall. They had a few dedicated servers, I think 12 computers total. They charge a load for an hour. Had a big screen and XBox going, couches every where, food, the works.

Problem is the crowd that you are attracting. Typically 14-23 year olds. Kinda started off with people dealing dope outside the door. Owners didn't care, heck, they may have been buying from them too. Kids run away from home, camp out at the LAN shop on the couches. Basically the owners let people crash there. Cops were in there all the time looking for run aways and pot. Cops can't really shut the place down, but they don't want it in town. So they sicked the fire chief on them. Come to find out they tore down firewalls (not the computer kind ) in the building, were over the building capacity, selling food with out the proper permits, etc. So the fire chief thew them out. So they bought another "place" in a strip mall. I would assume before you know it they will have that mall taken over too.

So yes, I would say it is very profitable.

Just depends on the area. One opened up here, called "Slappy'*". It was in business for about 3 years, then changed to a webhosting place. Wasn't enough business. There'* ALOT of LAN parties in this town, but stays personal rather than public, and doesn't cost anything.

They may have cut their own throat, though. They sold 2.4GHz gaming machines for $499, and still do. Maybe they did that on purpose.
