yaaaay im buying a new laptop
I just sent off for one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834210011
Ive got 6 months to pay for it, plan on parting out my desktop and Im praying to get a tax return, among other things.
Im hoping it will perform close to the desktop I have now.
Ill start an official For Sale thread when the time comes, but I just thought Id see if anyone is interested in any of the following:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
MSI K8N mobo socket 939
2x512mb PC3200
80GB Western Digital SATA drive
XFX Nvidia 7600 GT PCI-Express 256mb
NEC Dual-Layer DVD burner
Chameleon 550w power supply

Im hoping to be very happy with it, I priced a Dell Vostro with similar specs and it was several hundred dollars more, and only had the 256mb version of that card.
Im thinking it will be about the same performance I have now, which is fine by me, but with additional portability, and a much smaller form haha.
I hate technology depreciation when I go to sell things though, Ive put way over a grand into the machine I have now, and Ill be lucky to get 300 out of it.

Very nice choice! I was looking at the same one but with the 17" screen.
That thing will scream and play games very well with that 8600 GT. Enjoy!

Awesome, my laptop is scheduled to arrive Friday, so Ill just need to get it up and running, then transfer some stuff over.
From there Ill start disassembling......or, I could leave it all together in the el cheapo case and ship the whole thing if you want it all. In the meantime, I need to figure out what ive got, what its worth, etc.
Like I said, Ill post a FS thread later on, Im still in research mode.
dial-up is similar to old-Entish, it takes a very long time to do anything on dial up.

It will have Vista Home I believe, I can install a copy of XP on it if Im not happy with Vista.
I wasnt thrilled that it has Vista on it, ive heard good and bad about it. I figure surely with 3GB of memory, performance should be ok.
