You have a 3 gallon bottle and a 5 gallon bottle. Without the use of marking devices or estimation (eyeballing), measure out EXACTLY 4 gallons of water. You have as much water as you need and you can empty/fill the bottles as much as you need. You must describe how you achieved your four gallons and there are 2 ways to do it, what are the two ways....

Fill the 5-gallon jug.
Empty the 5-gallon jug into the 3-gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons.
Empty the 3-gallon jug.
Pour the 2 gallons from the 5-gallon jug into the 3-gallon jug.
Fill the 5-gallon jug and use it to fill the 3-gallon jug. That leaves 4 gallons in the 5-gallon jug.
Empty the 5-gallon jug into the 3-gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons.
Empty the 3-gallon jug.
Pour the 2 gallons from the 5-gallon jug into the 3-gallon jug.
Fill the 5-gallon jug and use it to fill the 3-gallon jug. That leaves 4 gallons in the 5-gallon jug.

Fill up the three gallon jug.
Pour it into the five gallon jug.
Refill the three gallon jug.
Pour the contents of the three gallon jug into the five gallon jug until the five gallon jug is full.
Empty the five gallon jug.
Pour into the five gallon jug the remaining portion of the three gallon jug.
Refill the three gallon jug.
Pour into the five gallon jug the contents of the three gallon jug.
Wallah! 4 gallons!
Pour it into the five gallon jug.
Refill the three gallon jug.
Pour the contents of the three gallon jug into the five gallon jug until the five gallon jug is full.
Empty the five gallon jug.
Pour into the five gallon jug the remaining portion of the three gallon jug.
