I want one. I can see this being very, VERY useful in labs and hospitals.

That makes me wonder...there are many similarities between that and Apple'* new iPhone and its multi-touch display/how it works. And Apple filed for many patents on their multi-touch display.
That is pretty sweet though. Reminds me of "Minority Report."

HP developed that technology about 3 years ago and built prototype PC/Display coffee tables. They were pretty cool.
The press releases are incorrect. They were not developed at hp Labs in Palo Alto CA. They were developed in Corvallis Oregon where I work. I know a couple guys that were on that team.
HP cancelled the R&D funding for it in Corvallis and transferred the prototypes to HP Labs about 2 years ago for 'final conclusions'. HP Labs apparently saw the value in the idea and continued work on it.
In other words, many companies have been working on new display technologies for a long time. In fact, most of my current work is on new display technologies.
Patents don't infringe on each other if they are produced in different ways or with different materials. Each company in the race is trying to come up with the most cost-effective methods and materials. Whoever wins will be the strongst in the marketplace, and will probably license their technology to the former competitors.

With HP'* aquisition of VooDoo PC, Misto could turn into quite a powerful gaming toy.
