I feel like venting. After a wonderful week of searching, not a SINGLE employer in this town is hiring, or you have to be 16. What a load of ****. I need some god damn money! Stupid car.

what did you expect?? VERY few places will hire anyone thats under 16 nowadays

get a paper route, mow lawns, wash cars, walk dogs. There are all kinds of things you can do. Just find the right thing for you.

Sell yourself over the internet.

You could sell body parts.........visit the local scrap yard and refurbish someone elses scrap.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations, but you are fighting Labor Laws. It'* not the employers themselves. It'* a real PITA to hire someone under 16 because of all the restrictions on what they are allowed to have you do, how many and which hours you can work, etc.

Like Tracy said, look for odd jobs. Even some small construction companies will pay you to clean up for a few hours a day. That'* what I did in Jr High. Swept, chased scrap lumber, etc. Led to a full time position the next summer as an "apprentice" (Non Union, so I'm not sure what the official title would be)

i had that problem about 2 summers ago. I did as suggested, mowed lawns, took care of pets. You'd be surprised how much people will pay just to watch {and sometimes} clean up after an animal or two. If all else fails and you really want somethin' to do.....volunteer. People will love you for it, and it looks good on applications when you're looking for a job.

Volunteering may be the only thing left for me to spend my days.

It sucks.. stupid labor laws.

And volunteering is not an option, You need money for parts. Got a mower? Sneak up on the neighbors and ask if you can mow their yard. Old people are good targets. Don't waste time on the houses with kids old enough to run a push mower.

Or try pulling weeds, I know my mom really hates that.

or try selling stuff on Ebay. Go to a boneyard and get some good stuff cheap and list it.

I don't know about where you are, but I know that around here, its even hard for me to find a job somewhere. (of course I'm only 17, if I was 18 it would open lots of possibilities) I've been working at my current job for a year and 8 months. I started out at minimum wage ($5.15), and now I'm making $5.75. Personally, I feel that it is bullshit to only be making that but I can't find any better so I take what I can get. I've tried looking for other jobs and there aren't many places around here trying to hire anyone at all, at least not for just normal fast food and grocery jobs, and the ones that are hiring want someone full time. This week I'm working 39hrs. at my part time job (hardly part time with those kind of hours) so I might as well just get a full time job, however I'm leaving for College in a month and a half so it seems like it would be kinda a waste. At least working 39hrs. this week I'll see a LITTLE income. With the normal 26 hours or so I usually get it barely pays for my gas and maintenance... During the school year I was only making around $250 a month! (~20hrs. week)
