For $17.87 per week....
....you too can stop smoking. I finally found affordable nicotene patches at Walmart. I never tried them before because they cost $45-$60 to buy a month'* supply. It was easier to "buy two get one free" for $10 and smoke for the next four days. But Walmart brand is only $17.87 for a week'* worth.
It'* been nearly a month now. Substituted toothpicks for those "social habits." Haven't had a problem. It hasn't even been hard like those commercials you see where the people are pacing the floor and thinking about throwing themselves out the window.
I'm not looking for praise...I'm not looking to preach... I'm simply offering advice to those who do smoke and may wish to quit someday.

I always felt the same way. I ended up doing the cold turkey after my youngest was born, but it really took years to quit. I always figured like you, it'* cheaper to buy the cigarettesI than the stop smoking aids.
And, I know you said you weren't looking for praise, but a congrats is definitely in order.

Frank - don't feel bad...I didn't smoke in front of non-smokers for the most part.
I never smoked until my marriage took a nose dive. It was my crutch...my way of beating myself up. My Ex-hubby hated smokers, and I was rebelling - he couldn't control my life anymore. Stupid. Very stupid. I could have took up running or something. My favorite punchline was, "...I gave up one bad habit, so I started another."
Now, I find out that my one son (now 18 ) has been smoking since he was 14... which is about a year after I started. Talk about a reality slap. Bad Mother... bad bad mother. He hid it from me until about 6 mos ago. So yes, it'* a great choice to make. But it was the stupidest, most harmful thing I've done, not only to myself...but more importantly, to my kids.
My point for posting this thread is because some people i've talked to say, "why bother trying to quit? Its too hard." I'm living proof that it is NOT hard to quit when you put your mind to it. Not at all - the patch takes care of the physical need. Its up to each person to take care of the mental part.

Big congrats, Tracy. My dad also started smoking five years ago when my parents divorced. He'* hugely ashamed of it and tries to hide it the best he can, but I always know when he has been 'cause he smells like it. He'* been on and off though...quit for a few months, start again, etc... I dunno what to do. I just give him endless **** about it.
