i was mowing the lawn then it stalled out cuz it clogged on too much grass, i wasnt about to put my hand in so i got the tool for cleaning clogs in the snowblower, and it was ******* disgusting. im poking around green grass coming out... then brown grass... then gray muck... and finally white fuzz and dust, my dad has treated the lawnmower like **** and now it wont start, he has not cleaned the damn thing since i last did it 3 years ago and he has not used either the bag or the mulcher its just stuck in retard mode. anyway now it wont start, at all. i tihnk it mgiht be flooded so im letting it sit but this damn thing eithe rneeds an overhaul or to be replaced.

You pulled the plug? Pull the plug and pull it a few times [fast].. if any liquid comes out, it'* probably flooded. Keep pulling until no more liquid comes out.

If no liquid comes out, check spark [hold plug to block, around plug hole will work just fine, and turn over.. doesn't need to be fast, but it needs to have a little speed. You may need two people for this. You will hear a VERY obvious clicking noise when the plug sparks, btw. You may need a new magneto if it has failed, but in all likelihood it'* a bad ground. a little cleaning usually fixes those magnetos right up.

If all that checks out, try priming the engine a little, and spray something flamable in the intake [removing the air filter first of course]. gas is perfect for this, but don't overdue it.

If it still doesn't start, then it probably needs a rebuild..

it started it was flooded, there entire mower still could use an overhaul tho we dont even get it flushed before winter, so it sits with it'* oil and gas going bad and then he gets it cleaned in the spring

I usually burn off all the gas, but I too leave the old oil in there over winter. No need to drain it out and let new oil get ruined over winter, and no need to leave it without oil so the block can crack. Been fine for the 4 or 5 years we've had it.

ssupercharged: why? What if he had a $400 or $500 mower, and all it needed was to clear the flood? Or a little jump start with fuel in the intake?

trust me, we do need a new mower this one has taken too much crap, and i doubt its a $500 mower, its 6 hp push non-selfpropelled, if my dad actually did pay $500 for this piece of crap i would slap him

I think we paid $350 for a 5.5hp self-propelled [long gone].

Drive it into the ground, if you ask me. It'* a mower, not a car. If it mows your lawn, keep it

well its my dad'* choice not mine, i told him before i did it that this is the last time i am mowing that lawn, that damned wasteland isnt worth mowing, we have at least 8 kinds of grass growing it, god knows how many kinds of weeds, and the place is riddled with so many lumps, bumps, humps, rocks, holes ditches, roots, etc. that i doubt there is a single square foot of flat ground, and that is an unholy pain in the *** with a non selfpropelled, its constantly gettng stuck up on one obstacle or another, he bought the non-selfpropelled cause he says its 'good excersize' well that his choice, his lawn, his mower, so he can mow it. oh and dont think i sound ungrateful or anything i do plenty of other work around the house, i do the vaccuming, i clean the kitchen and bathrooms, i do the minor maintenanc eon the cars, i keep the computers in working order, i dont need to be landscaper as well.
