So i figure ill run it past the group and see what you think

the owner of the body shop i deal with has offered me his 1994 Suburban in exchange for my 1993 chev p/u long box along with me paying 2500 cash as well.

the pros i see are the body work is done it has a TBI 350 with dual cats and exhaust
it seats 5 comfortably (i can get a 3rd seat and seat 7) drives well and has a stereo.

my truck needs at least 2500 in body work and other repairs
and i was going to change the engine over from the 4.3 to a 350 at some point

i think i would be ahead getting the burban but what do y'all think

4x4 ? or not. I know personally I miss my old burban. Remember that unless it has the mountings for the third row you would need to jury rig a third seat. The gas mileage is a concern but the difference in a 4.3 to 350 isn't much. You might also miss the open area depending on how you used your truck. IE: difficult to haul dirt in a suburban without getting dirt everywhere and a refridgerator would have to be on it'* side and would not be as easy to load.

Just some things to think about. I'd go for it cause as I say I miss my old burban.

5.7 TBI > 4.3 TBI

Period.

Plus I think the 'Burbans are awesome, I'd love to have a 1990 (Older Style) with a 454 TBI.

That'* for sure.

I had a 93 with the 5.7 and it averaged 11-13 miles a gallon. What was even worse was the 45 gallon tank Other than that it was great. I sold mine to a friend it now has around 170K miles.

Check the tranny lines, one of them on mine burst on the highway coming home on night.

Don't think you'll automatically get better mileage by going to a smaller rig, I made that mistake with the ranger.

unsure about the seat mounts... thanks for the heads up on that and the tranny lines...i think its a GM thing that they go bad... the pick up has the same pblm as did both my S15'*
i use it for winter transport mostly not hauling a lot of gravel or anything and i do have a utility trailer for that type of stuff
the suburban has class III hitch and posi .

the pickup is averaging about 600 KM per tank which is 120 liters i think

i can tell you I'm about $100 to $110 every fill

i keep telling the GF that the bonne gets better millage.....but it takes premium so dollar wise I'm almost the same.

the two ruffians love the idea of the suburban... more space for them
its pretty crowded in the cab of the pickup with the three of us and book bags etc

so it was checked out today... it needs 2 ball joints and tie rod ends

he is paying for the parts... i am paying labour.(my added cost about $100)

i think i will keep it for a bit then sell it again

i picked it up tonight and drove out to the GF boy does it ever drive better than the P/U
filled up and OUCH !!!! 127 Liters from just under a quarter tank
guess ill find out the highway millage quick enough

i really am happy with it so far..... my easter project is installing the new Kenwood deck i bought

Dalton lightened my wallet by 350 bucks today too with transfers plates and tax....
