Mythbusters proved that tires wont burn, he had a fuel line failure, notice that the engine dies there at the end? Its because it ran out of fuel because it was pouring onto the track.

They have this contest every year at Carlilse. To be in the running you have to roast legal tires off the car. Depending on if there'* wind, one side of the bleachers is gagging up chunks. I always watch outside of the arena. The view isn't as good, but it'* healthier. And ya, I never seen a actual fire.

Heres some pics of my great uncles truck and a vid of this 1st place burnout at the norfolk nebraska Hot Summer Nights car show. My aunt also won with her new Dodge Challenger.

The truck has a 502 BBC running about 8 lbs of boost on alcohol. 550hp and 675ft-lbs
