lol
Well from what I have found, putting the plates from my current car onto the new car to drive it home before I have titled it in Florida is a big NO NO..I read they can impound the car on the spot if you get caught with plates not registered to that car.
What I have been finding after doing some more research, is after we complete the sale, we go to their local DMV or a Notary Public and they supposedly can give me a temp tag to drive it home...I wish I could just pay the guy and drive home! lol oh well, all the extra little crap that I need to do will be WELL worth it to have the car I really want.

That is how I love doing it and how I always did it in the past with my Trans Am and First Z28..but thats only because they were both within 2 states away and we had my dad'* pickup and a Car trailer. We also did that when we bought his 69 Camaro in St Louis, and when we bought his 70 Chevelle in Canada just north of NY. Lots of fun memories doing that.
In order to do it now it would require me to
1. Get a Pickup capable of towing 5000 (car and trailer)
2. Find a trailer
3. Driving from Florida to Pennsylvania
4. Driving from Pennsylvania to Florida
It would be fun, but much more of a headache then getting a temp tag unfortunately.

I would just drive the car without plates, and then have a bill of sale and insurance in hand. Cop would pull you over for no plates, you show him your out of state license, bill of sale, and current insurance for the car and it should be no problem.

I agree with Mouse. A Bill of sale and a insurance card should get you home. The key is that insurance card, it will show the insurance date of coverage.
People have to drive private party sold cars home all the time without plates. Most don't go across country, but this is not that uncommon.

There really isn't an "option". Two credible scenarios:
The seller lets you use his plates (If there are any and you notify your Insurance company(they only need VIN, not Title) or
You present the Title (You shouldn't buy a car without one so I really ??? about your predicument) to PA DMV after the sale and get a transport(temp) paper plate. All you will need is your License (any state) and the signed/notarized title. They may hit you with PA sales tax at that time, not sure on that one.

havent bought anything in pa but when i got that camper the selling state did not charge tax, you paid tax when registering in your home state.
