Should I buy this car?
ok, I have the change to pick up an 86 Fiero 2m4 (4 cyl, auto, ok shape) and a 1999 GTP complete drop out with 60k for under $1000 that my friend is selling. I am wondering if it would be worth getting and swapping? The only part for the swap currently is the dropout, so motor mounts and such would still need to be purchased ($400 shipped) as well as the wiring harness ($400) if i can make it myself, and the axles.
Do you think this is a good deal? I figure the dropout is probably worth near that price. What are other'* thoughts...?
Also, if I get it, the NE folks will be having a meet at my place to swap this...

Do it. It is probably one of the most fun swaps I have seen, I've helped on one before, I owned a swapped Fiero, and I thought it was so cool. As long as you have the $$ to get the required swap parts from www.westcoastfiero.com , you are all set.

Hrm.... Now I will have to seriously consider this. The car has 110k on it, and has some wear. I did find another 88GT notch shell with the V6/auto with 36k for $800 which might be a better candidate. I'll have to see where the cards fall. If TJ would be interested in the swap, I would consider selling it to him.
Would be a fun car...

IMO, the GT is a much better deal. The car as a whole looks 10x better than the other, not to mention the Iron Duke stinks as a performance engine (even though I know you're gonna swap it). My two cents

Get under both and take as many underside pics as possible. Also take pics of the front suspension, frame rails, and pull the splash shields out of the back wheelwells and check for rust there, they get nasty there.
