How to dispose of "junk" cars
 

I will end up having three vehicles that I am stripping for parts, mainly wheels and interior parts. Currently all three having running engines, two are drive-able and one has a good engine but hit a pole at high speeds- you can imagine what it looks like.

One title is in my name, the other two I am listed on the title as the buyer but have not sent in the paperwork yet. When I go to junk yard- they say they want the vehicle complete. I am not able/ willing to give them the car complete- that is why I have them. I am not worried how much I am paid for the vehicle- a few bucks will make me happy. But seems the junk yards don't want them after I pull the wheels and interiors, etc. I also have the issue on how to load these vehicles onto a trailer as I am pulling the tires.

Any thoughts?

Park em on the front lawn and put an old couch and beer fridge on the front porch so you can keep an eye on them. But then, you would have to marry your sister.

Hard to believe that some recycling yard wouldn't take them if you had them "crush" ready, i.e. all the fluids drained and ready for the crusher, I know the price of scrap steel is down, but still . . . As far as loading the junkers on a trailer if it's prohibitively expensive to rent a large forklift you could wait to remove the wheels and tires until the vehicles were trailered, any recycling yard would have a forklift to unload them.

You have to find where they crush the cars for re-cycling, once you are done with them Mike.
I wonder if there is a local service that could help you with this...??

Put junk wheels on them. Or, do as I did. Put an ad on Craiglist. Specify that the cars need a flatbed to be towed. Give a price with what you expect for each. Let them deal with it.

Mike- sounds like a plan that I will try. I also like the idea of making them "crusher" ready.

Took a "hybrid" approach with your course of action, but a ad on Albany Craigslist that, if a match for someone- will save me the expense and hassle of towing it home.

Did a forget to post that I did not tell my Wife I bought this- not sure I will survive when I bring it home and put it on the driveway. Here is the ad:
