Anbody watching Florida?
I love hurricane season. Less than 13 days into it I'm already sitting in the midst of one. (hurricane/tropical storm) We do need the rain though. Probably going to get 5+ inches where i'm at. Some moderate winds too. Its supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Yes, all day. Oh well, more time to sleep.

If it weren't for all the hoopla surrounding these storms, most of them would just be considered to be part of the rainy season, just like it use to be. The nation is just over-sensitized, likely due to the severety of the flooding disaster in New Orleans.
Just let'* not lose sight of the real reason that Katrina will never be forgotten there. It wasn't the severity of the storm that caused the problem, it was the poor, poor condition of the levies and a bureaucracy that made bad decisions and took too long to react.
Now I'm not saying that it is wise to hang out on a catagory 5 storm, because we all know it'* not, but the majority if these storms are just so much bad weather that we deal with the same way you would deal with a bad snow storm or thunderstorm. Use sense and stay out of the worst of it when at all possible.

bring it on...
I left for a storm almost 2 years ago.... I got to west Virginia and what was left of the storm had followed... Rained all nite and day.... I left in the morning and the park at the south end of town was flooded out... It was close to the Main road in and out of my home town... after the 14 hour drive back to FL I got this pic in an E-Mail
It turns out that I had left just in time.... Not too long after I left SR 2 north and 2 south got floded out...
This is what a chunk of my yard looked like last year
