Default first drive in FE1 and bubble tires

my roommate has an 88(?) LeSabre and i did some work on it for him yesterday, after i was done i took it for a test drive.

OMG

that was the scariest drive ever. i cant believe GM even released that suspension setup. now granted his endlinks are probably shot, along with other parts, but still. i could literally get 1 wheel in the air but yanking on the steering wheel. i could get the front to bottom out by tapping on the front brakes.

i have a newfound love for the tight suspension in my Lumina and the Stabilitrac in my 00 ssei

sounds like that car has its own set of suspension issues.

FE1 is not that bad! It just is too senstive to vibration.

Example in point: I farted and the car rocked back and forth.

OK, I'll agree that the FE1 is no performance suspension, nor was it meant to be. Further, it was never meant to be driven by you Andrew... :P It says right on there, "No Freakin' Haro".

But seriously folks, that car obviously has a number of issues, starting with:

- It needs new shocks.

- It needs end links and maybe even a sway bar.

It likely also needs other suspension work at that age. It'* fair to assume that there has never been any maintenance on that suspension.

My car has FE1 suspension, and while it'* no performance suspension, it'* maintained and works quite well for it'* intended purpose. No bottoming out, no nose dive, and no lifting of wheels upon hard cornering. Just the smooth ride that it was designed to give to the primarily older crowd (and on-the-road salesmen) the car was marketed to.

All that having been said, I will someday upgrade when I start asking more from the car.
