Default Hmmm, should I run E85?

There'* a gas station just down the road from me that now sells E85. Regular gas here is $3.55, and the Montana gets 25mpg, so that comes to about $0.149 per gallon to drive. E85 is $3.25 a gallon. Wow, 30 cent difference. I'll save a ton. Wait. E85 gets lower mileage. about 25% less. So that drops my mileage to about 20 mpg. That comes out to $0.1625 per mile. Ya, I'll be saving money alright. I just don't see E85 sticking around with savings like that.

I figured a 25% drop was bing nice. I've been hearing about 30%+ Unless there'* a $1 difference, it'* not even worth looking at.

You have to wonder how many people see the cost savings and fill er up. Then pay no mind to the lower mileage. People need to look closer. Per unit cost tells you a lot.

Gas is already thinned out with E10, I lost a few MPG with that stuff. Now they put 10% in all grades in this area. And there'* talk about making it E15.

Funny, the government keeps saying manufactures need to get better mileage, and then go and make the gas companies add ethanol and mileage drops. Nothing like buying a car that gets 40 mpg, fill it with E85 and get 28 mpg. Now your making a huge car payment to get a car that lets you use cheaper E85 and find out the mileage is lower then the car you had.
