Default My First Car

Here it is in all it'* glory a 1972 VW Bug...I ended up going through 3 engines in that thing, oil leak after oil leak...and 1 windshield which came in on me in little pieces on the autobahn in Germany where this picture was taken.

What was your first car? Do you still have a pic of it?

My first car was a 1994 Mercury Sable, robin'* egg blue that my mom bought so I could commute to school. I didn't get too into cars until a year or two into my Bonneville ownership, so don't ask me what was under the hood — nothing that could pin me to the seat, I recall.

The car got totalled, unfortunately. I was inside on the computer, and a driver from Maine hit some ice, went across the street, over the curb, up my old uphill driveway, and rear-ended my Sable. (You'd think someone from Maine in a huge SUV would be better at winter driving, but no.)

The only pictures I have were taken for archival purposes after it got smashed. Still started and ran fine after I reset the fuel pump, but it left my driveway on a flatbed (with a half-tank of gas, because my mom wouldn't let me siphon by mouth).

Of course, following that, I was driving a Bonneville with 71,000 miles on the clock with the insurance money, so who can complain?

My first was a 1981 Cheverolet Citation. I got it for $250! That was 17 years ago.

My first car was a 1991 Chevy Beretta GT. Bought it not running, and got it running in 2 weeks. Had it going for about a week before a tree fell on it, totaling the car. Replacement was a 1989 Beretta GT with a blown motor. 1 week and a motor swap later I was driving the 89 around. I don't know which one to consider my first car LOL.

Not mine, but exactly what my 91 looked like.

Also not mine, but this is exactly what the 89 looked like.

My first car was a maroon 1977 Ford Thunderbird with a 351 Windsor and floor shift that I got when I was 14. (I loved living in the country and being able to get a school permit at 14!)

What a BOAT! I beat the living crap out of that car. I couldn't even begin to count all the cars I have had since then.

"972 Ford Gran Torino"

Nice, Dad also had a 72 Torino, 2 door purple (or should I say Maroon). Dad loved Ford'*... drove a Crown Vic the last 20 years of his life. He bought a new one with no options about every 3 years. He was getting old and kept banging them up.
