High speed wobble?

Asking opinons here, I probally won't have time to take the Alero in today, but heres whats wrong, the past few days at speeds over 60 mph, the front end shakes badly! like steering wheel and all. At first I kinda thought it was a miss fire problem, so I took it out to a near vacant highway, ran it up to 80 mph, it was wobbling very badly, more so under acceleration, i shut the key off (dont worry, i did not lock the wheel up) slid the car into nuetral, sure enough still wobbled with the engine off, pulled over and re started. After work tonight i did not take the highway, seems like this problem is getting worse. the car does not pull in any direction, even under breaking conditions. I had a look at my tires, no bulges that i could see. Makes me wonder whats up.

I would say that one wheel may be out of balance, you may have thrown a weight, ( it's possible). If it does not change under braking or acceleration then my guess is with the tires. You could have snow buildup on the inside of the rims too and with the -30 weather would pretty much stick there or could have formed ice on a rim where you can't see it.

I had that the other day, pulled over and there was snow caked inside my rim. After i cleaned it out it cleared right up.

if you check the tires and their fine and not out of balance then it can be your lower ball-joint(s). I've had a simular problem at high speeds and found it to be the ball joint but snow in the rims is also a good possibility.

that sounds like mine when the tires were out of balance BUT when you took mine above 80 or so it would smooth back out...doesnt seem to be the case with yours, but most places wont charge you too much to balance them..i think it was like 20? for me.
