Hey northeast, how about that flooding?

No surprises here. An inch and a half of rain (at least) melting away this winter's massive snowfall was bound to do this.

There were a few parking lots with cars submerged up to the door handles. Some people decided to brave the standing water and didn't make it too far. I even heard reports of streets collapsing and leaving communities stranded.

Fortunately, I was lucky; this only affected my lunch hour. I was really in the mood for Taco Bell... as seen in the second picture. I heard Route 7 was closed, but I didn't get that far south.

Anyone else affected by local flooding?

Nothing to report here in the Chicago area. Looks like those guys have quite the mess though. That sucks!

have you lost Rhode Island yet? I always seem to blink and miss it anyways:D

but ya that sucks! wonder how NH is doing?

I missed the worst of it. There were flooded homes, fallen rail bridges, mudslides, ice floes in the road, and more. Here's a photo gallery with even more pictures.

EDIT: In two days, we've gotten the entire month's worth of rain: 4.5 inches, plus melting snow.

We british had a little cold spell this winter, also it was slightly wetter yet we are world champions at complaining about the weather!.
One day of snow, the railways quit,
Two days and the entire transport infrastructure quits.
Two days of heavy rain is flooding,
Three days without rain is a drought,
Three sunny days in a row is a heatwave.
My sympathies to you guys, I hope your cars are out of harms way.

Forced by signage to dodge the most heavily flooded areas. I kinda wanted to take the Regal for a swim again... it's a trooper in most water.

You keep all that ick over there.

BillBoost37 Mar 8, 2011 08:25 AM

Dan..that sounds like "please send me more snow"

Danthurs Mar 8, 2011 08:30 AM

No, you are mistaken.

Well, not even 24 hours later, and they had all the roads near me cleaned up and dried. A little extra sand, and I saw people with brooms in the Bertucci's parking lot. Except for more buses going between train stations, it's like it never happened.
