OK, the autos were not the greatest. They were inefficient and are unreliable. The 5spds were terrific, tough, well made, and able to handle a LOT of power.
The motor themselves are capable of truly astounding amounts of power, but have a tendency to blow headgaskets, and the turbo is best replaced with an aftermarket piece.
Beyond any of that, I'll let my Brother MOPAR MAN address it when I get home tomorrow night. He can run you through the problem areas,
OR
you can check out a couple of other forums:

I've built a few of them in a past life...ranging from a Shelby Charger to my last Chrysler, a LeBaron GTC.
My experience? The TII is pretty stout. The turbos they used are Garretts, not the Mitsubishi units the 2.5 T1s used (those are junk). Highly modable, but head gaskets due tend to pop on high mileage units, and the oil seals on the turbo will probably need to be looked at.
You WILL want the A568 transmission. That Shelby doesn't have it, but they are worth it if you can find one in a junkyard. A568s were built by Getrag and can take a world of abuse. Believe me...I know.
For that price, I would hit it like it was Jennifer Anniston. They are a very fun car to drive, fun to mod (and cheap too), and easy to maintain.
