Been going ok, but also been working 10-12 hour days as well. So sleep has been very little for the last month and a half. Kinda weird to come back onto the board and have 1000 members and over 2000 posts I have had looked at, crazy.

Have not had much time to work on the project cars, but over the summer we are looking into building a T-Bucket with possibly titanium frame and fasteners for weight reduction with a carbon fiber bucket. The frame and bucket would be around 60 lbs all together. So one person could pick it up. Then attach a twin turbo Caddy 500 engine worth about 800HP and 1000 ft/lbs. The entire car would be around 1000 lbs so it wil be interesting to drive.

Also working on the 64 Valiant every so often. I am turning the old 3 speed manual transmission from the car into a shiftable sitting stool, when I am finished I will post some pics. But the car is slowly getting there, have to start prepping the engine compartment for a V8. We are going to try a 318 similar to what Hot Rod Magazine did (April 2003) of a 400HP 318. The car will be around 2800lbs with me in it and we will also add a 100HP of nitrous to the engine as well. Both the engine and transmission will be from the junkyard (around $300 bucks), engine prepped a little and just dropped in and hope for the best.

Well anyways, hopefully I will have more time to go online again.

What's the deal on the tranny? (the one from the black car)......btw, stand by for a phone call about 11pm.

Tranny is still working. I can spin the tires through first still until I hit the low end second gear. Here are some pics from the old differential. The planetary gears went poof.

So yeah...... turns out the factory ratings of the 4T65E seem to be correct....

And then here is the project 1964 Plymouth Valiant. Turns out the color was a special color for that year (checked it out in the books). I have dubbed it "The Little Mopar That Could" since it no one will expect that car to be fast. And if you check out inside the box I made, you will see a gigantic turbo 8) capable of supporting approximately 800-1000HP. Considering how far away the camera is and you can see clearly the turbo, kinda gives you an idea of its size and that it is currently being used as the paperweight for the other paperweights. And the arrow is pointing to another Jet Hot Crossover I had made and is just sitting. So yeah....

Well guys, now you see what a little too much torque will do to a 4T65E transaxle.

Thanks for the lesson Hector!

Hector, watch out for the front end sag on that Valiant, I had a '64 entrusted to me by my dad for a spell while I put a new engine in. I went with a straight swap, slant 6 for a slant 6. But the front ends can sag. The 64 Dodge Dart had the same body but could handle a 318. So I think you will be okay. Just keep those tortion bars tight.

BTW, it looks like your sun gear survived that little tranny snafoo. I am impressed. How much torque were you putting through that tranny anyway?

I was putting down alot of torque. I was running a sheetmetal upper intake manifold a week before, transmission started making funny sounds since the shift were too much for it, and a week later went poof. Torque was way up there, but the ass dyno says alot. It was fun until I saw the damage. For now I am going to take it easy and focus a little more on suspension and such before going back to engine work. Yeah, my Valiant I dont think will have too much sag since it just sat for a good 8 years and I am still trying to discover its history. Since I acquired it in..... a different way.

A different way??? What are you trying to tell us here? Don't give us Puerto Ricans a bad name, now!

That should answer a few more question sabout the sheetmetal upper intake for the Series 2, eh? Now those that WERE in the dark know where the talk was coming from.
