Sorry for my ignorant 14-year-old-question but would an adult be able to find out insurance cost BEFORE they take a new job?

There is not one set price for insurance. It depends on a lot of things like deductibles, children, coverage, in or out of network, etc.

Sarah ended up choosing insurance for just herself. It'* 140 a month for just herself.

Insurance for herself and kids was 1300 and herself and spouse 1100.

Well if Wisconsin sets a national precedent, kiss those state job benefits goodbye as well...

I have been off of my dads insurance since he retired and I turned 20. I've looked at my own coverage in NYS... its 3600 every 6 month term. At the cheapest.

I call BS too...They should be able to give you a break down of the cost...and I am not sure how covering one person could be $140 and covering 2 people would be $1100.

Something isn't right there... I would be making some calls

I Hope you guys can somehow get it all figured out though.

I don't know what else to do. Wife is insured. The kids will get public aid, and I'll be on my own.

Like he said, make some phone calls, and get the paperwork that breaks it all down. My guess is that her company really isn't actually covering anything. I pay $91 a month for the both of us for health, dental, and vision. Granted, I work for a health insurance company, but these still seem to be the going rates with my friends.
