I've been doing quite a bit of traveling lately, and I get a chance to drive quite a few different cars.

This past week I spent in Vancouver and rented a 2004 *-Type Jag. It appeared to have all of the options, less the V-8, including the 6 speed automatic transmission.

First, I must say how small the car is with the interior dimentions...wow! Myself and one of my assistants traveled with me, and our two suitcases barely fit in the trunk!

Tht engine and the tranny seem to b be the weakest link. The engine sounds great but that is all...there is not much there. The tranny, while smooth, is slow to shift through all those gears...event at WOT. Mind you, the car only had 3500km on it when they first gave it to me.

Going up to Cypress Mountain, the car was constantly switching through the gears even at the same throttle position...annoying.

Things are automatic, but almost to a fault...never did find the button for the door locks, although they locked and unlocked at mostly the right time?

The car draws quite a few glances, more than i expected.

Drop the V-8 in and the car might be different.

For now, I am glad I drove this gold dipped Ford Taurus - and I have a new opinion of those cars.

Anyone else drove one?

The V6 is just a Duratec, no? And the V8 is that of the Lincoln LS.

Gimme a Lexus GS300/400 anyday.

I think the 6 is just the Ford engine. Under the hood didnt even look nice! I like the Lincoln LS with the V-8...dont know what the HP is, but it hauls a**

Next week I have a Lincoln Aviator booked. Cant wait to see what 300 hp in a gussed up Explorer will do!

i'd have to agree with you on the lincoln LS, 3.9L v8, that thing scoots pretty well.
