For those of you who don't know, I have known for a while, but all cars starting in the 2008 model year will be evaluated for fuel mileage differently than cars have been in the past. These are going to be "real world" tests, and not just minor simulations. Real cold starts, A/C on, higher speed limits, faster accelerations, etc. Larger engines will not be as affected as smaller engines, ESPECIALLY hybrids. The EPA'* fuel economy website has made an entire section showing the difference. They have integrated it into their catalog of fuel economy ratings all the way back to 1985, showing approximately what older cars based on the old testing should be getting in real world conditions.

For example:
1987 LG3 - Old: 18/27 - New: 16/25
1989 LN3 - Old: 18/28 - New: 16/25
1991 LN3 - Old: 19/28 - New: 17/26
1992 L67 - Old: 16/25 - New: 15/23
1994 L27 - Old: 19/29 - New: 17/26
1995 L67 - Old: 17/25 - New: 15/24
2003 L36 - Old: 20/29 - New: 17/27
2003 L67 - Old: 17/27 - New: 16/25
2005 LD8 - Old: 17/24 - New: 16/24 (4565cc N*)

City i get around 22-24. Highway 29-32

It all depends on your driving habits Ryan...also can be dependent on dino juice or synthetic oil, the kind of fuel you use, the weight in the vehicle. So maybe you're just doing something right

I get about exactly what the new rating says in the winter and I get what the old rating says in the summer, mine is better in the summer because they also averaged in using your A/C, which I don't use.

Now for Trucks, thats rating where always to high

Hahah, yeah, I know what you mean, SUVs and trucks. I borrowed my friend'* '98 Durango...I got 15 MPG at 70 MPH Only got 22 at 55 mph. That was a REAL shocker. Averaged 9.5 mpg for a 85% highway 40 mile trip. Wonderful.

Then a bonne, rated at like say 28, will get 30 easy.

I don't know whats up....I never saw over 22 on my bonneville...what ev.

As for my current car, the new stats are much more accurate. I think my window sticker says like 30-33/36. When I filled the very first time (drove like 30 miles myself, the previous owner did the rest, also assuming he reset the trip meter like I do), I got 36 MPG.

I get 26 for mixed driving....30MPG freeway on winter gas, and 33MPG freeway on summer gas.

EDIT:: Also note that about time we should have been switching to summer gas...I got pulled over....so now I drive slower on the freeways

I get better mileage than the 92 rating.
