What a shitty day. I go to my mothers house and she decides to treat for brunch. We go to IHOP in Norwood MA and order our food. I ordered an orange soda, and a Western Omlette with my eggs over easy.

Strike 1 The dumb *** waitress brings me a Sprite. I asked for Orange, so she comes back with orange.

Strike 2 My GF, son and mom get their food served to them and then the same dumb *** waitress says to me "They cooked you a ham Omlett by mistake, but their making you a western so it will be a couple of minutes. Ok fine whatever. My mouth is salivating over watching my family eat their food.

Strike 3 The dumb *** bitch Waitress comes back with my omlett, but instead of over easy eggs, I have scrambled. At this point I was ready to throw the freaking dish at her!!! I tell her to cancel my order and I dont want anything now. You know what she says? Well I wont charge you for it but you can still eat it since the kitchen will throw it out. I said I DONT WANT SCRAMBLED WHEN I ASKED FOR OVER EASY.

At this point I excused myself from the table because I was ready to flip it over. I left and sat in the Bonne waiting for my family to get done eating. About half an hour later they come out. And off to shopping for the next 4 hours

I decided to stay in the car while they went in the stores because I didnt have any spending money and I also didnt feel like standing in the Boys section for an hour while my fussy picky son shopped.

during the entire time, my sons friend (a girl) kept calling my cell phone (I let my son use it when he goes out) to the point where I hung up on them everytime they called. My son got upset and to end all things, pulled a temper tantrum and kicked the back console a couple of times breaking my godamn rear vent, which till this day was not broken!!!!

So hes grounded, im still pissed and im sitting here posting about it. I hope tomorrows a better day!!

I have a few of those days this year...hang in there. I have two kids so I know how that goes.
Gotta ask, did you ever get anyhting else to eat. 4 hours shopping is a long time with an empty stomach.

I try really hard not to be mean to waiters and waitresses. They often make minimum wage (or less if their state allows it, expecting tips to make up the difference) and you really don't want to **** off someone who can do unseemly things to your food.

But I feel for you, because it can't be that difficult, but they manage to screw it up much too often. I mean how hard is it to remember to bring an orange soda? Don't they have a little pad of paper when they take your order so they can **write it down** ? -All they have to do before bringing you your soda is look at what they wrote. "Hey, wait, I wrote orange soda, and this drink is clearly a Sprite." HOW HARD can it be? My other pet peeve is when they bring the orders for the table and go "Okay, who had the pancakes, who had the scrambled eggs, who had the eggs benedict, and who had the fruit plate?" I mean, shoot, there'* only four people at a table. Draw a map or something on that little pad of paper, they aren't paying ME to do the waitperson'* job, you know? There'* a reason they don't do this at a fancy restaurant. The other one that kills me is "This plate is hot, don't touch the plate." I always touch it after they set it down, just to be deviant.

I ended up eating an Italian Sub at Popa Ginos an hour and a half later.

As far as the dumb waitress, I really wasnt rude to her, but she was well aware that I wasnt very happy with her service.

You would figure that the tips they recieve are the bread and butter of any waiter/waitressing job which depends on their table service. If I was paying, I would not have given her anything.

Never understood poor service. Like you said, their livelyhood depends on it. I mean, people have bad days, but this sounds a little more than just a bad day.

that day does suck for sure.

But to those who cannot understand how a waiter or waitress might forget something, I'd just have to say that you haven't worked in a restaurant before. Those who have, can completely understand what HELL it can be. Most service people are paid diddly squat and are worked as hard as humanly possible. I've been working in food service for nearly 5 years now while going through highschool/college and what they expect people to do for minimum wage is rediculous. Most servers make $2.50/hour and rely on tips for income. Sure, it'* an easy job if you're waiting on one table, but just how good of a job do you think you could do if say, you had 5 tables walk in all at the same time? You have to try and remember everyone'* order while trying to be 'fair' to every table by not favoring one over another. On top of waiting tables, servers are required to answer most phone calls for order taking as well. They also cash people out, and even sometimes prepare the meal, or help to finish it. Jobs like this **** me off because of all the hassle you have to go through, then because you're forced to multitask to the extreme, customers get pissy with you and can't understand "how the job could be that hard." I just want to bi**** slap some of them sometimes. I'm a manager at a restaurant and am expected to do a whole array of checklists, cleaning tasks every night, cash handling/paperwork, cash, prep table, making orders, bringing stuff out to tables when the servers are busy, answering phones, etc. All of this for a measly $8/hour. It'* not hard to understand how soemone couldn't care much when they're worked to the bone making nearly nothing for what they do...

(I hate working in a restaurant!) Five years of it is enough for me and I need to get out of there. I hate it!
