Default Custom turboing the contour

Well I am getting a turbo for my contour and I was told that I can run a 7 psi boost before I have to lower the compression its a 2.0l dohc zetec that I am turbocharging. They say all I would have to do is get a bigger fuel pump and rig up the turbo and it will work they say i dont need to upgrade the injectors or lower compression......Think this would be worth it? total price 230.00

Nothing in that car will be tuned for that turbo. You're gonna blow something up.

230 bucks for a turbo?

IMO turbocharging an N/A engine is never a good idea. They just aren't built for it. Guys on the mustang forum ask this every once and a while. The answer they get is: Yes it can be done, but only recommended if you don't mind having to rebuild your engine a lot sooner than you would have otherwise.
Plus, you need more than just a turbo. You also have to get the exhuast manifold and down pipe. You will more than likely have to run a cooling line to the turbo too (which might involve putting another hole in the block). You'll have to get a boost valve so you can set how much boost you want to get. Those things cost money.
I advise you research this as much as you can. I'm sure other guys out there have done it/thought about doing it. Find them. See what they say.
Just my 2 cents.

LOLOL, $230? What kind of a turbo setup is that?

You're already out at least like $750+ to turbocharge a non-turbo a second or third-gen Supra (or likewise, a Cressida)... you know, the Supras with popup headlights. And turbo Supra manifolds bolt up. And these 2.8L 12-valve or 3.0L 24-valve inline six engines can actually take some boost while stock (stock boost from the '86.5-'92 Supra is <7psi). No guarantees that a DOHC Zetec will take much boost at all.

Trust me man, I know my turbo game (can't say I've DONE it, just KNOW it).

You'll need:

This $230 won't be for a kit of any kind. Generally, kit makers have to make a profit, you know

If anything, all that this $230 will get you is a used turbo. And if you're really lucky, a manifold. And you'll only be able to use this manifold if you buy all this turbo gear from somebody who'* done with a previous DOHC Zetec project. And who knows, this amount of money may get you a hunk of fins and metal that needs a rebuild. Which'll cost more than $230 alone.

Like an L67, mods (ie, pulleys) can't be just slapped on. Proper preparation and tuning beforehand is a must (ie, rockers, computer tuning, etc). Killer, you don't know enough about the turbo game. Hit up Google. Hit up Contours.org. Anywhere that can help you.

Heh. This DOHC Zetec motor he'* talking about... it'* his current motor? If so, then yes, it'll crap out. If Focus Zetec motors bolt up to his Contour, then he might not grenade his engine.

But if he does swap out, he'll be out way more than $230

Not to mention, his transmission won't take it, period. It'* not even handling 130hp properly at the moment.
