Default Who would rent time in a garage bay?

I've often wanted to be able to rent a garage 'bay' replete with lift to do some of my undercar work.

Apart from the economics of insuring such a venture, has anyone else longed for such a convenience (on occasion)?

There is (or at least used to be) a "do-it-yourself" garage in Calgary. They provided the bays, lifts, and any "big" tools (like scantools and air tools). Was a pretty cool idea, but I'm not sure if it still exists.

Yeah, I think that liability issues have probably forced them out of business.

I've thought of this many times... If you could get your hands on an old carwash building.... There'* a Rifkys Car Wash in Keene that would have the perfect layout... Single bays just big enough for a car and some movement room.... all bays are side by side and one doesn't have a roof (perfect for lifted trucks). You could run an airline through all the bays and charge extra to hook up. Tool rentals would be a money maker too.

I can see the usual issues.... Insurance would be an issue. You'd probably have to have a waiver.

when I was in the navy (I think it was in Philly) they had one on the base for us to rent a bay. It was actually a large warehouse. It was great for those long term jobs. Could rent a bay by the hour, day week or month.

It was great for those who don,t have the facilities.
