I'm not too much of a fan of the 30D, nor Canon'* slightly quirky ergonomics (this may be more personal preference).

I want to see the Nikon D200 replacement.

But in terms of a real path to 'upgrading' to digital SLR, for me (somewhat unfortunately) it would *have* to be with Sony since they're the ones carrying on the Minolta autofocus lens mount and accessory system after Konica Minolta pulled out of the photo business. And it'll have to be REALLY good for me to jump from 35mm film, I also dabble a little bit in 120 medium format. This is the one I'm hoping for, by the looks of it, it'll be VERY competitive with the 40D:

The original Sony A100 DSLR was decent, but I think the Rebel XT/XTi edged it out (and I really really don't like the Rebels). I already have a **** ton of Minolta stuff:

TWO Minolta film bodies: 7000 and 700si
50mm f/1.7
28-85mm f/3.5-4.5
70-210mm f/4 "beercan"
Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG
Tokina 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5
5400HS flash gun

And not even a week later, Nikon follows suit with the D300 and D3. (CLICK IMAGES FOR LINK TO ARTICLE):

I'm a Nikon man, if only because I like the sound of the shudder better than a Canon. I've only got a Nikon D100 anyways, plus I need some more lenses.
