Leaving tonight for a very long, two week road trip.
For work...not exactly a vacation.
Our company bought up a bunch of new stores all over the northeast. And they had to drag some people into going into, and helping with setup in each one. I got.. "nominated" by my boss to go. They told me a week before this past Friday. One week notice before a 2 week road trip. Awesome...
Of course, they are putting us up in hotels, but nothing else upfront. No gas, no food, no other expenses. Just a "send in the receipts and we'll decide if we can pay you back for it" kinda deal. And we are on the road, everyday at a different store. Hence the recent quick upgrades to the Silverado. And yeah, they didn't set up a car-pool type deal, or even sharing hotels.. we are all just kinda on our own. We aren't traveling as a team, some people are in different stores on different days. And the trip isn't even a sensible mapped route. I bypass some stores on the way to others, only to end up back there a week later.
The whole thing has me a bit nervous. I'm even ending up into northern NH for awhile. Its a long way from home if something happens. So the truck is getting loaded up with spare parts, extra oil, fluids, serp belt, tools, jumper box, air pump, etc.
Got the oil changed last night, brakes, tires and shocks done yesterday. The truck should be good to go.
By the time its all over, I figured out that it will be 1600+ miles in 2 weeks. 95% of it working in areas I've never been. Should be interesting. At least I have AAA Gold, plus a bunch of other coverage through insurance if anything happens. The mileage check at the end will be nice (55 cents a mile) but the gas bill in the meantime is gonna make the wallet a lot lighter.
I trust the truck more than the Buick for now. I drive the Buick, but it needs some work (tires, brakes, oil change, seal the windshield) plus the truck is setup with emergency gear, and communications if cell service is gone in the remote areas.
...its gonna be a long 2 weeks. I may just need a vacation after this, uh, "vacation".
I leave tonight for my downstate NY hotel, and work tomorrow. Wish me luck! I'm gonna need it!

This day has been eventful. I try to get the GP aligned and the shop comes to the conclusion I have a bent control arm. It'* off by a half inch. That'* translates into my tire rubbing on the inner fender well. Pretty much all the time and digging into it when cornering.
I hope I can get a new control arm. Then remove my poly bushings from the old one and reinstall on the new one. Then put it in the car and see if it can be aligned correctly.
I have just about had it with this car. It'* one thing after another with it. I know I have got to be close to ending this cycle of broken crap. This is my 1991 grand prix I'm complaining about.

Does this include the center arm rest cup holder? And the cup holders in the door when you go to take off the drink falls out onto the floor? I'll arrange the pickup and proper disposal of weapons for you.
