Glad to know the TrailBlazer still has it

Today towing a trailer with 5000 lbs. of retaining wall home from menards this jerk pulls out in front of us on the two lane HWY. It wouldnt have been bad if he would have gotten going but barely even starts moving. I'm slamming on the brakes trying to slow down and doing this from 55 is a chore in a hurry. So I know I cant slow down in time so Im like "hang on" to my cousin who was with me and I gun it to try and get around. So you dont say oh why didnt you just go around in the first place there was another car coming at us in the other lane. So I floored it and she jumps to second and is howling trying to get the beast moving. Made it past him in time and with a little to spare and I was impressed because 5 years and 105k miles of wear have gone it to the poor thing. But Im glad to know that it still has it when you need it.

The Trailblazers IMO are VERY powerful. I love how GM and Isuzu squeezed 295? HP out of a 4.2 I-6 that is only slightly smaller than the 4.3 V6. Amazing. And I love how they sound when they wind up with a aftermarket intake. :P

I really with GM would drop the wheezy 4.3 in the Silverados and Sierras and make the 4.2L I-6 the base engine.

BonneMeMN 08-08-2007 12:31 PM

They need to revamp the intake/cams on the I6 and make some sports car around it...

I really liked the Twin Turbo 400 HP Trailblazer SS concept too..

Fast enough 08-08-2007 02:31 PM

it is powerful especially moving out of a Explorer we love it so much that when my aunt and uncle wanted a new SUV they asked us about them and we said they were awesome and right now they are looking at a Envoy Denali with that there would be 3 of these in our family

driverjohn2005 08-08-2007 02:36 PM

does it have the I-6 or the 5.3 V8?

5,000lbs, I hope you had trailer brakes

Fast enough 08-08-2007 03:09 PM

yes that trailer did but still stopping is a chore when you have that momentum and weight pushing you along. but I dont think that it would have been a big problem without them because the boat weighs alot not that much but it doesnt have breaks
I was looking at my grandfathers truck before we went we were going to take that but even though it has a V8 it still has a lower rating than the TB. Ford quality there a high towing limit of like 4200 lbs even with the 5.4 is crazy. The TB starts at like 5000 and goes to 6000 limit

wjcollier07 08-08-2007 04:57 PM

Hahaha, yeah, those F150s are a little weak. I towed 8500lbs with a 5.4L F150 once that was only rated for maybe half that. Took like 3 years to get to speed. Felt like i was trying to speed up the rotation of the earth

and thats cool, i'm not too far from yah, just down in Waupaca county.

Can you PLEASE start using periods in your posts'? My god, run on sentences left and right.

Oh, and John, F-150's have the highest towing capacity of any 1/2 ton truck on the market at 11,000lbs. ;)

Even without the supercharger my 2005 with the 5.4 F150 could tow alot. Mine has the 3v version I am wondering if you drove the 2v version?

wjcollier07 08-08-2007 09:02 PM

John - the f150

and yeah, i think it is the 2v version. it definitely wasn't goin anywhere fast

Fast enough 08-08-2007 10:23 PM

sorry used to aim. the 03 F-150 owners manual says a max towing capacity of 4000 something the trailblazer starts at around 5000 lbs. sorry forgot to say its a 2002 LT with the I-6. The stupid F-150 has the dual exhaust and I swear that when you hit the gas it doesnt go faster it just gets louder
