Default Cell phone antenna

Ok, I have Verizon and it plain out SUCKS. But my parents pay for it through a family share plan so I'm not going to go complain about it. So, anyone have exterior mounted cell phone antennas that are suppost to boost signal. Do they really work. I'm desperate and it looks like a viable option since 75% of the time I use my cell is while I'm on the road.

thanks

John...I've had installed car kits for years and it'* a huge difference. Well worth it. However lately I've been moving between too many vehicles for it to make financial sense. They are expensive.

There is also the Passive Repeter option. It is just an antenna that "repeats" the signals it gets from your phone and from your service. They make a big difference in most cases

I have a Siemens CF62 with a nifty little "handle" antenna. It'* a discontinued model, I haven't had a shot at using it outside the Greater Toronto Area yet.

I've go the LG VX8100 (Upgraded from the VX7000 which was an upgrade from the VX10). I've never had reception propblems with any of these phones. All through Verizon here in the Twin Cities. I even had reception in the SOuth Dakota Badlands where "There is no phone service"....

John, you need a passive repeater for sure. Even if your flip has an external antenna jack, those are a pita.

I'd suggest buying one passive repeater and trying it in one of your vehicles first.

If it doesn't work in either, bite the bullet and go CINGULAR. Out west, that'* the only way to get coverage, and it'* nationwide solid coverage now. Then you can get your family on YOUR plan.

Cingular is horses*** in the twin cities. It doesn't work anywhere in richfield, drops calls constantly, and has horrible customer service. My boss went through a debocal with them for almost a month, in which they managed to cancel his home service and still tried to charge him $245 dollars. I stick to tmobile, and i never lose a call or have any problem with signal, even in basements.

Alec, John lives in the NW where Cingular OWNZ. That'* why the suggestion. Cingular is solid non-stop coverage out West and East. Not sure through the heart, but in my business travels, I've NEVER had a dead spot.
