DON'T BUY VISTA!!
We just got Winders Vista about a month and a half ago, it is the WORST operating system since 2000, ME or NT. Nothing works, and the IE is always breaking!!!!

Remember, if your computer barely meets the minumum system requirements, then yes, you will have problems. Minimum requirements are just there so you can install it, other than that it is strictly recommended to upgrade your computer. How much memory do you have in your PC? How about the processor speed, and video card?
My dad'* friends' PC runs flawlessly with Vista, but he is a gamer and has dual AMD processors, 4GB of ram, 2 SLI 768MB video cards, and 2 500GB SATA HDDs.

I have vista, and at times its a little extra work to get drivers to install older hardware but other then that i'm nothing but happy with it. I have several friends at school who all run vista as well with no issues. now, we are all IT students too so a small issue to us may be a bigger deal to someone else...
also, min requirements don't cut it with vista. you really do need to go beyond that... 2 GB ram sould be the min, and if you don't have a good graphics card turn off the aero glass thingie. i've been told it eats up a lot of memory and the such.

i too have vista on my laptop and am very happy with it. It can be a bit sluggish at times with only 1GB of ram, but it gets the job done.
And FWIW, i have had Vista since launch day, and i never had any substantial problems with it
and why would you think win 2k is a bad system. 2000 FTMFW!

thats pretty much just based on the assumption that the older "xp" machines won't meet the requirements well enough for vista. I Put vista business on my old laptop and it worked alright. i had some driver issues but its the same thing with my new pre installed vista laptop has too. (stupid printer...) there is a tool from microsoft that scans your computer to tell you if you are vista compatible and i think it gives you a "score" too... if your system doesn't pass that then for sure you won't like vista.
