breakout matt's ttgp from stattama. it'll lay that thing flat!

I hate Honda's, and all rice in general; But facts are facts. And when you bend truth, you only detract what you trying to promote/defend.
Matt's TTGP which the last I knew ran high 8's isn't going to even walk that Godzilla of a Honda. Although it is a "gimmick hydrid" with an American drivetrain. The shop I got my GXP painted and slammed at specializes in high boosting Imports/Civics/Wankels. Can't slam them for following the money, they are a "business". They put out cars that take incredible boost pressures and take pounding. None of the following spray NOS. Posted in DragTimes. 1) 6.525*+ 213.500 4.206 170.180 1.014 Honda Civic 2003 stephan papadakis 2) 8.192* 174.080 5.387 140.230 1.354 Honda Civic 1995 Kenny Tran - Jotech 3) 8.411* 175.320 5.600 134.590 1.370 Honda Civic 2000 Stephanie Eggum 4) 8.680* 169.000 1.360 Honda Civic 2003 John Brown 5) 9.200 162.000 1.400 Honda Civic 1990 Jim How people attain boost is the same as any style choice here at GMF. It the right of the individual. Stating your own opinion of such things is fine, but I won't have any such turn into flames or disrespect of members. It's a fine line, and I enforce it firmly. |
6.5? no way i cant believe that, 6.5 is done by funny cars in the nhra... now matt's ttgp WAS doing mid 8's last i remember. i think he's in the 7's now i could be wrong though. besides ya gotta remember something, thats an american muscle engine with an american birdcatcher on that foreign car. no 4 or 6banger is going to beat matt's car or that particular honda with that engine and drags on it.

Ya, you could be wrong though. All I hear is street smack. The picture I posted is a funny car. So is Steve Papadakis's Drag Civic but he uses Honda engines. And his company Papadaskis Racing runs the RockStar sponsored Formula Drifting Team.
http://www.aemelectronics.com/motorsports/?cat=17 Quoted from that site: Stephan Papadakis was a name synonymous with drag racing Hondas. After putting his name in the record books with a 215+ mph pass to be the quickest and fastest Civic on record, Steph stepped away from drag racing into drift. Initially piloting a 240SX and then his S2000, Papadakis teamed up with Tanner Foust and ran the team that put Tanner on top in 2007 and 2008 in a 350Z, then built the infamous V8 powered Scion tC Tanner pilots today. Matt M's (Stattama Racing) quickest time ever was 8.65. And hasn't been heard from since the fall of '08. https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...1&d=1299807929 Here was his progression 10/18/2008 Knoll Gas Motorsports Park 8.658 @ 158.97-0.111 5/16/2008 Knoll Gas Motorsports Park 8.963 @ 156.86.684 5/9/2008 Knoll Gas Motorsports Park 8.977 @ 154.762.314 11/3/2006 Norwalk Raceway 9.011 @ 150.550.095 I believe they blew the car up and he ran into money/company troubles. He has become very absent from ClubGP; and the Stattama website is half down with almost everything listed "Sold Out". |
i wouldnt doubt it if im wrong cause your 100% right, there's alot of smack talking and random numbers thrown around for hp and tq and 1/4 mile runs. plus alot of those people are violent with racing and their cars also, thats why i stopped racing. same thing with watching yankees baseball the yankees redsox/musclecars imports thing cause people get violent so i just stop. and people are getting pissed now cause im getting emails for slamming imports. oh well, it is what it is.

This is way it's good sometimes to look past the tags and car a car for what it is and if it's well built and preforms well it needs to be appreciated. When I see a 70's Datsun at the track doing a 10 sec run it's an amazing site. Not only it's a turbo 4-cylinder doing 10's but the a guy would actually strap himself in a car that small and go that fast. Now that take a pretty big set.
Also this is way street racing is worthless. No way you can argue with a timed light and a lazer finish line.

Everyone works hard on there car to get it to where it is. The people who should be slammed are the one's who slam first for no reason or have done no work and brag how much they did. end rant :c2 |

I'm never 100% right, wish I was.... hehehe. But I read alot at lightning speed and absorb it well. I followed Mat's build at a competing GP Forum closely back in the day and always wondered just what became of him, his car, and company. He set a standard of excellence I doubt we will ever see again. Not just on sheer speed/track times, the car was built and setup like I have never seen before. Meticulous doesn't to begin to define his work. For those who aren't familiar with his work or car..... The "Real" fastest GP/any FWD on the planet.

Not sure for what reason. His company website is down and only a cached page remains. And most of his stuff in now conspicuously absent on the ZZP website. I haven't seen him or his work on the internet for 2 years. Always wondered what has become of him and that amazing car. |
Very little. I had 2 dents in the chrome part and a white mark on the black guard above the chrome. Also, the under skirt plastic rivets popped out but they were easily popped back in. LOL not much damage at all.

wow that almost went the wrong way real fast. remember im friends with the honda freak so when i dog him about his honda he knows im just screwing around plus i own a honda 'member

LOL, almost. Hey we all have our passions and style preferences. And while I'm good with some good natured humor about wings, donks, rice, fart cans, etc; we need to make sure it doesn't spill over into hurting member relations. Supercharging has become the norm. But 30 years ago? It was consider a cheat. "only sissies cheated with boost".
Back in that day a "real mechanic" tore engines apart, bored cylinders, plasticgauged high dome pistons for clearance, ground out heads for oversized valves and lapped 3 angle seats, used highlift long endurance cams, and stacked dual carbs on high rise manifolds. These days it seems to be about leaving bottom ends stock, creating boost, and computer tuning parameters we geezers never imagined. Tuning a car back involved a timing gun, an allen wrench for dwell, and playing with carb jets. The important thing is to be active and do things, whatever power adds interest you . I find so many people who are all about "hatin" but never do squat with their own vehicles, or a clue on how to. |
