never heard of a straight 8 before. btw, i thought they didnt make bonnevilles until 1957 or so.

You win the prize. The 1956 Star Chief was renamed "Bonneville" in 1957. Somebody down in Los Gatos CA got their wires crossed, or got some bogus information.

My bet is that it'* actually a Star Chief. There are some unmistakable hints to that fact on the car.
