Free Cellphone Ringtones
 

Ok well my plan is up in december and I think that I am going to be picking up a new LG vx6000 cell phone from verizon wireless. It plays .midi's as ringtones so I have been downloading them to my computer, isnt there some way I could upload them to a website and go online with the phone and down load them? I was reading something like this, and they said that this was a good way to get cool free ringtones. Does anyone know what I am talking about, and can you explain in detail how I am supposed to do this? Thanks! :D

you might be able to rig something using the usb port, provided that your phone has one for it

LG's suck for this. I have yet to find free LG rintones. If you figure out a way to do it yourself, please let me know!!

I have the PC Connection software, but all it'll let me do is update the "Address Book"

should go motorola. ive got the t720 and i "get" tones all the time :wink:

i have the cdm 9500 toshiba i download ringtone staight from the phone

I just wish I could do custom ringtones. I ain't into the music, but I wouldn't mind something different.

Next phone I get, I'm checking this first. I got this one becuase it was on sale, and I could finally get my "Captian Kirk" flip phone. one of these days, the poor thing is gonna snap in half, and the top parts gonna go flyin' when I "Capt Kirk" it open... :lol:

It's better than the Kyocera 2135 I had before.

The LG can do that, but you have to use 'get it now', and it costs like $1.50 per tone or something there has to be a way you can do it for free. Right now I got a v60i and it is ok, I guess but I want a camera, and a color screen, and new ringtones.

MOS - who is your service providor?

I go through Verizon. And yeah, so far, get it now is all I can find.

But there has got to be a way! I just don't know the technology.

I read on some site that if you have a personal web-page, or feel like making one, you can up load the .midi files to the site, and then if you have internet on your phone, you can go to that site and download the tones. But I do not know all of the specific details...

I've never even tried the web browser on my phone...

Couldnt you just upload them onto your own tripod site... and DL them with the phone? My brother did this and it is awesome.

you should be able to find a crack for it via cable with the right software.. a few people I know have been working on a crack to download/upload free ringtones and wallpaper for Telus' camera phones.. I will look into it for you guys on Verizon as soon as I have a chance

For the cable you can get the one for LG 1200 cable for $29.99 or find some on ebay ( generic cable for 6000 is like $70 :shock: ) , it will work for the LG VX6000, you just won't be able to charge from it.. there's a software that can do it ( ringtones and such ) , but there's a lot of bugs concernin compatible issues with that handset and has caused some to fail, so I won't post it till they've fixed it.. still lookin... will keep you posted :wink:

Some people are having success with the software which a lot of people includin the Telus Hacks use.. It's BITPIM ( the best ) or you can try vzwpix.com but you would need to shrink any MP3 files down to 30K.. use this program if you need to shrink it www.goldwave.com

With the cable you can:

-remove the banner.
-upload your custom pics and ringtones (including mp3's) and avoid the pix messeging cost.
-copy your camera pictures to your computer and avoid the pix messeging cost.
-have a backup for all your GIN games and ringtones in case something happens to your phone.
-use the wireless modem in your phone to connect your computer to the express network or qnc.

Here's an easier way without cable

To get wallpapers and ringtones to LG 6000, just email them to your phonenumber@vzwpix.com. When you receive the picture message, save the image under graphics section and use the menu options to set it as the wallpaper. Follow a similar procedure for ringtones.

On his phone he has internet and can DL midi's as right tones.... so he just went to the tripod site and DLED with his phone all the midi songs.

You are correct sir.. however I can't say if I know it's true on Verizon or not, but most carrier would charge you to surf the web on the handset }( unless you have some kinda surf packages ) and it could be as small as 2 cents a page, but never the less still a charge.. :wink: Please look into it more and ask your bro.. if it works.. that's another bonus for these guys 8) NICELY DONE....

From everything y'all have said in this thread, I'm screwed because I got the VX10. Oh well, March will be a year, and they have that new thing now that even when you change carriers you get to keep your same number. So just a few more months...

For sure.. probably cause you were roaming on Verizon when you were in the states and or called near the border line and was picked up on Verizon.. call *611 and ask for more info as I can't look thru your account ( technically I can ) without gettin in shit... bring it up and or I"ll call them for you
