Default Suburban audio

Alright, so yesterday I put in my CD player and my 6x9'* into the suburban. I don't know why but it feels as if I am only getting half the bass that I had in the bonnie. The wiring for the bonnie was: one pair of wires for highs, the other pair of wires for the lows. I only have one pair of wire going into the speakers. The guy that took my wires out soldered the connections for the highs and the lows together. I was wondering if I disconnect the high and the low inputs and wired an amplifier to the lows, would I get better bass? I am looking for more bass without having to spend the money on subs. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

THe audio in the Bonneville had a small amp that runs the 6x9 subs in the back, hence the 2 wires most likely. The suburban probably doesn't have this option, and is why there is only one set. Some else might be able to give more insight into this though as that is the extent of my audio knowledge.

I dont understand.....your 6X9'* are Coax right??? you should only have One set of wires going to the 6X9'* when they are installed in the Burban. the Burban dosent have a amp to power the speakers so there is only one set....try to get the soldered wires apart and then just the (+) and (-) from the burban to the (+) and (-) of the speakers

the bass is louder in the Bonne because of the amp that is driving them

Yup, that'* the same effect I'm getting with the Infinity 6x9'* I pulled from my 1998 SSE and put in my 1989 Lesabre. The SSE had the BOSE amp which really was a nice compliment to the Infinity'* which performed like 8" subs and nicely reproduced the highs, but now they merely sound like blown 4" speakers. Heck I can't even hardly turn the volume up over 10 (max volume is 40) and the Infinity'* start to distort, and that'* with the equalizer set so as to allow for the highest volume without distorting. And what really makes it sick is the original 4x6'* in the front dash actually sound better and have better bass.
I have a slightly better deck (Pioneer DEH-P4400DH) than the 7-band eq CD deck I had in the SSE, but the sound is no where near as loud or clear. In fact it is extremely distorted in the Lesabre (I wonder if it has to do with the factory boxes with vents that the rear speakers mount in)

The Explorer probably has the JBL sound with the factory subwoofer mounted in the passenger rear corner of the passenger compartment. The 1996 Explorer I drove for 2 weeks a couple years ago had one, and I have to admit, it sure sounded good, but it didn't have much volume.
