Default Ford BB EFI Conversion

Okay, I have a 1979 Ford E350 Econoline AMBULANCE, as seen on Google maps.

I have been wanting to do an EFI conversion for a while now but have yet to find a complete and economical solution, but I just had an Idea. Now that me and tom have HPTuners I could pull all the sensors and related BS from a newer GM truck that has the 8.1L motor in it and then adapt the crap to the BBF. Tune the computer with HP for the different motor and have all the fun I wanted with it. I assume it would be a pain in the *** to actually do, but this seems like the most cost effect way to get it done and have the option for full engine control.

You are looking at WAY WAY WAY more trouble and cost in the end. You'd have it easier dropping in the 8.1L and tranny and then tuning it that way.

The motor, and trans will have different parameters and setting, so you'll basically be re-writing the computer completely to get it to work.

If you want to give it a try, go for it. I am not saying it can't be done, but it'* highly unlikely it will be cost effective. What makes the EFI conversion not economical?

I was just thinking if I go to a junk yard and pull the crap myself and wire it all up, but a $185 aluminum intake for my Big Block and adapt it for the 8100 throttle body and injectors it will be cheaper than buying a universal EFI Kit for around $2000 and then doing all the fab work any way to get it to work.

I was born in 1990 EFI is easier for me plus I have had nothing but horrible experiences with the carb setup, I have gone through 2 Holley rebuilds, a brand new Holley and a brand new Edelbrock carb.
