So....I randomly met an old baseball player...weird
Well I was at work tonight, I work at a Casey'* convenience store in the Lake of the Ozarks region...I cant remember what time it was, but I remember seeing a tall black guy walk in, didnt think much of it, then as he was standing in front of me, buying cigarettes and some other stuff, the guy behind him goes, "hey....i hate to ask, but arent you Daryl Strawberry?" he kinda smiles and go "yeah, sure am"....the old greetings and such follow, shakin hands that kinda thing. I was just kinda dumbfounded. Im not a big baseball fan, but I did at least know the name, and who he played for and stuff.
Got home and googled some pics of him, yup, same dude. I just thought it was weird and completely random.

Daryl was awesome.
I met Joe Montana once. Golden Gat Park in SF. Met Reagan, too. The entire CA Angels baseball team too. Sat in the dugout with them before a game.

Wow, Bill, you have met some cool people. I met Mean Joe Green once for a few seconds, no idea whatever happened to is autograph. Also meet a few Pirates players when I was in 5th grade, a looooong time ago. I got a baseball autograph, I think it was b Bonnilla, sold it that day for like $5.00. I was broke and hungry.

Montana was at a Rugby tournament I was playing in.
Met Reagan by getting some passes from my Dad who worked in the government at the time. This was a re-election rally in Sacramento years ago. Shook his hand.
I was the 'american flag' in a 4-person Marine Corps color guard for the Angels vs the Rangers. 2 of us were native CA, two were native TX.
Being the senior ranking member of the color guard, I had a loaded .45 and two full 30rd magazines for the two M-16'* the junior members were carrying (to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands). Devon White asked me while we sat in the dugout before taking the field if we had any bullets for dem things. I leaned forward and patted them in the small of my back under my uniform jacket. He heard the clanking, his eyes got as big as headlights, and he leaned back.
We had seats right behind the plate after the opening ceremonies. That was either 1988 or 1989. I don't remember for sure.
Dated Johnny Cash'* ex-sister-in-law too. His youngest brother'* very much younger former wife. She lives about 8 blocks away from EK98'* parents.

I used to work in a small grocery store close to my parent'* house in high school and several hockey players that played for the Leafs shopped there. I met (and this goes back to the late 90'* now) Felix Potvin, Dougie Gilmour, Dave Ellett and Wendel Clark. It was pretty cool cuz there was a playoff series against the Flyers where Potvin and Hextall got into a tustle. It was on the cover page of the paper (since goalies dont often fight) anyway, when Felix came in to the store, he signed the newpaper.
Mike Bullard used to come in all the time as well.
I'd like to meet some of the current Jays, but they're pretty elusive. A co-worker met Roy Halladay at a nearby restaurant after a game he pitched (and won), interestingly enough, he has not won a decision since then. I told her that she jinxed him
