Base 2 is also the reason your files are ordered:

1.txt
11.txt
12.txt
2.txt
3.txt
etc

Unless you have windows7 LOL.

sseidriver97 12-31-2010 12:06 AM

Sorry, sseidriver, we're going off-topic here. We'll get back to you in a moment.

Jon, that's just how computers naturally sort things, left-to-right. (Windows 7 and most Macs will do a "human" sort instead.)

The metric prefixes (kilo-, mega-, giga-...) imply a base-ten conversion, but computers (being adept in binary) use base-two. That's why a brand-new hard drive with 300 GB written on the label, will show up in Windows with 279.4 GB of available space. (There was a lawsuit against hard drive makers regarding this a couple years back.)

reformat is a last resort LOL

Now that I've mastered Windows 7 imaging and sysprep, reformat is what I do to anything I think will take more than a half hour to fix, cause I know I can have it wiped and imaged in a half hour :thumbup2

I'm pretty sure with XP, even if you have SP3, you still are 150ish updates behind (about 3 hours worth depending on computer/internet speed). I'm so sick of updates...

go to My computer > Right Click > Properties> Device Manager.

Look for your Wireless connection

Click on it then Right Click Uninstall.

Then top right of the Device Manager you see Look for new Hardware (something like that)

Click that it will install your Wireless Card ! If that doesn't fix it let Us know

HAHAHAHA.....as I read this thread from my iMac! :)

People talk about how great Macs are, but what they don't realize is OSx is really just Unix, so is Linux. It was just Re-written by Linus. (Linus + Unix = Linux) So I can have all the awesomeness of PC hardware and all the security of Unix at a fraction of the cost. Especially considering that linux is free and pc hardware is cheap (mac is not).

I realized it...not sure what you mean by that statement. Unix has been around a long time and Linux is nothing more than a Unix hybrid with a GUI. My point being is that I much rather spend my time on a computer being efficient and accomplishing something, than having to go through the continued hassles that I encountered with a most version of Windows.

LOL. I've become a large Linux fanboy over the past couple of months. Everything else is obsolete in my mind. On one computer, I actually have a linux kernel programmed into my bios!
