well im researching auroras and have a question or two

first question: why does it require Premium gas? im hearing that a lot, its a NAed V8, why why why

second question: what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting? its rated for 17/26

any major mechanical problems that are common?

should i just get more Interested in the Intrigue instead? i like both cars and if the Intrigue had been sitting there by itself it would be very sexy, but the Aurora outsexied it for the time being.

98 and 99 Intrigues had the 3.8 in it, then it went to the 3.5. Just some consideration. For the mileage, another NA bonneville might not be a bad choice. Maybe an SSE this time.

i get about 12mpg city. It may get 17/28 when brand new but not with 70 or 80k on the clock.

It runs premium gas cause of the high compression (10:1). If you run 87 it will throw back the timing a little bit, and you get less performance. I always run 93 regardless of price.

Do not get a 95-96 aurora. Try to get a 98 or 99 if you want the classic for its timeless looks. I made the mistake of getting the 95. Problems left and right. I drove not even 8,000 miles in a year and spent $5000 on repairs alone.

Might be a good idea, although a lighter car may be a better choice with less cylinders if gas prices are a real issue for you.

the 3.5 does have better performance in the high RPM'* compared to teh L36 but the L36 is better around town and in the mid RPM ranges. My brother'* SLE Bonneville gets nearly identical gas mileage compared to my Aurora. It might be slightly better mileage but it'* not that much difference. The Intrigue would be a good car for you. They're lighter than the Aurora and are plentiful in options especially when you compare them to an SE Bonneville.
The 3.5 was available in the Intrigue in the 99 model year in the higher end models but the base models had the 3800. Either engine is a good choice.

id like the Geo Metro 5speed when it came time to stop at the pumps, but i would hate it any other time...especially if i hit a pole with it i like the Intrigue dont get me wrong, but that Aurora is just...nice...its the same color as Auroradudes, except its just a regular ol Aurora..not a Razzi or whatever....and its not so much even the fact it has a V8, i just like the look of the Aurora compared to this particular Intrigue

hehe, the classic aurora is definately a keeper. any color on the car looks good. there isnt a crease on that body anywhere, which is why it still looks great to this day.
